It takes listening. Asking better questions. Getting the right people involved. And being willing to challenge what you've always done.⁠

The best leaders don't rush to have an answer. They take the time to understand the problem and build a strategy that actually moves people forward.⁠

Want to raise $1 Million this year? Get out of your office.

Fundraising takes conversations, relationships, and a willingness to ask people to be part of something meaningful.

Here’s where I’d start:

1. Make time for major donors.
Identify people who believe in your mission and have the capacity to make a significant investment. Sit down with them. Learn what matters to them. Share the vision and invite them to help move it forward.

2. Ask for introductions.
Your strongest supporters likely know others who could connect with your mission. Ask, “Who else do you think we should be talking to?” A personal introduction can open a door you’d never reach on your own.

3. Get out and build relationships.
Schedule the lunch. Make the call. Invite someone for a tour. Let people see the work firsthand and understand what their support could make possible. Then follow up.

People give when they understand the mission, trust the leadership, and see how they can make a difference.

Strong leadership requires knowing what matters most and having the discipline to keep it in front of you.

It’s easy to get distracted by the next opportunity, the next idea, or the next thing demanding your attention.

Scripture reminds us to keep our eyes forward and give careful thought to the path we are on.

Keep the mission clear. Make intentional decisions.
Hold the course.

All of those things can create momentum. But they can't fix problems with leadership, culture, systems, trust, or execution.⁠

Sometimes the solution isn't to add more.⁠
It's to get healthier.⁠

Fix what's underneath. Strengthen what already exists. Then build from there.⁠
