Microcom Corporation

Microcom Corporation Microcom Corporation is a US-based manufacturer of durable thermal printers with RFID and NFC for desktops and kiosks.

Founded in 1982 to provide bar code printing solutions to a broad range of industries and services who were adopting automatic data capture technologies, Microcom Corporation is a Columbus, Ohio based manufacturer specializing in thermal printing products, media, and printing accessories. Microcom began as a reseller/integrator of printer solutions for a wide range of businesses. As its systems in

tegration experience grew, however, so did the frustrations with generic products offered by the major printer manufacturers. As a result, a line of specialized bar code printers was developed, and today it has expanded its corporate headquarters to a 30,000 square foot design and manufacturing facility. From its onset, Microcom has been heavily involved in creating solutions for, international postal applications, specialized packaging and palletizing industries, pharmaceutical manufacturers, healthcare providers, entertainment applications, and parcel service labeling. Based on these custom-designed solutions, Microcom Corporation has introduced a series of new products that solve the durability and price/value issues that have long afflicted the bar code printing process. Microcom Corporation is a leading manufacturer of specialty-use thermal bar code, label and ticket printers, and boarding gate readers deployed throughout the world. We engineer and build our thermal printers to operate continuously and provide years of low maintenance service in challenging environments including high temperatures and heavy use. In addition, Microcom offers labels, tags, tickets, and other consumables. All Microcom thermal printers are assembled in the United States. Microcom Corporation has custom-tailored, low cost, high quality solutions to specific industry problems. At the grain scale, every second counts during harvest season.

A slow or unreliable printer doesn’t just delay a ticket—it slows down the entire operation.

This month in The Print Point, we look at how the 814M from Microcom Corporation supports high-volume grain facilities by keeping throughput moving and downtime down.

Because efficiency isn’t just about the scale—it’s about everything connected to it.

When you contact Microcom’s service department, you’re not routed into a generic ticket queue—you’re connected with people who understand thermal printing at a component level. The conversation typically starts with targeted diagnostics: media type, printhead condition, firmware, application environment. From there, the team works methodically to isolate the issue, often identifying root causes that go beyond surface symptoms.

What stands out is the continuity. You’re not repeating your situation to multiple layers of support. The same team that helps troubleshoot is equipped to recommend parts, firmware adjustments, or configuration changes—and they stay engaged until the issue is resolved. The goal isn’t just to fix the immediate problem, but to stabilize performance and prevent recurrence.

In practice, it feels less like “support” and more like having direct access to engineers who know your equipment and your use case.

Long after the lights go down and the crowd fades, what do you keep? Not the email. Not the app. It’s the ticket stub—creased, faded, and tucked away—that brings it all rushing back. Some moments deserve more than a screen. They deserve something you can hold.
