H.B. Carbide was founded in 1984 in Lewiston, Michigan by Norman B. Lawton.

It started with a small group of people focused on one thing: producing consistent, reliable tungsten carbide blanks for industrial applications.

Today, the company operates as a 140 plus person manufacturing team across three shifts in Northern Michigan.

Some of the original team members are still part of the operation today, bringing more than 45 years of hands-on manufacturing experience to the floor. That kind of continuity shows up in how work gets done day to day, through steady processes, shared standards, and a deep understanding of the material.

That mix of long-term experience and current manufacturing capacity allows the company to support customers with consistency they can build on.
