In the 1950’s this was farm field . In the 60’s it was planted in Douglas fir for Christmas trees. They died off and left an ugly forest floor. Now this plot of land is a stand of poplar and maple with a clear understory.

Meet Lane, a determined and hardworking 15-year-old with a strong work ethic that sets him apart from his peers. After the school bell rings, Lane heads straight to our local sawmill, nestled within the community. Despite his youth, Lane has become an indispensable member of the sawmill team, where he efficiently and safely operates heavy machinery, stacks lumber and cuts firewood, showcasing a level of skill and responsibility beyond his years. His dedication to stacking lumber and ensuring the smooth operation of equipment highlights not only his work prowess but also his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the success of the small business he calls his workplace. Lanes story is a testament to the value of determination, responsibility, and hard work, showcasing the incredible potential within the younger generation. Thank you to Lane !
