** LLA MARKET REPORT ** AUG 11, 2026 **

Hello Central Montana & Beyond! We sold 367 head of cattle this week with an even split between feeders and slaughter cattle – including 122 slaughter bulls! Markets were strong, active and higher on most classes and weight breaks. We had a dandy set of 924 # steers bring right at $350. 9-weight open heifers landed from $305-315 and 1000 pounders $301-307.50. Weigh-up cows showed signs of better demand too – the upper end type were mostly $170-184. Bulls varied in both flesh and weighing condition, but the hard muscled boys that walked in empty sure commanded good demand! $232 topped the market with several of those heavy rascals.

We’re still selling every other week – next sale date is August 25th, which will be a Feeder Special and All Class Cattle AND Sheep sale! More details on the website. Thank you for bringing business our way! ~Kyle Shobe

*** LLA MARKET REPORT ** JULY 28, 2026 **

Hello Central Montana & Beyond! 475 head of cattle Tuesday after several weeks off, and the offering consisted of about 150 pound-cows and bulls along with nearly 300 yearlings! We are witnessing a market that’s trying to find its equilibrium, but despite uncertainty on the CME, the cash market was very good this week on our first true test of yearling steers and heifers. We sold a load-plus of 1000 # home raised steers for $316.25 and 870 # steers were as high as $347. Buyer interest in open and spayed heifers was active, too. One nice jag of 823 # heifers brought $330 and 16 head of 915-weights brought $307.50. The cow and bull market is doing it’s ‘seasonal thing’ here in the dog days of summer – it was a little weaker than last month. We had a few outliers bring into the high $170’s and mid-$180’s, but most cows hung between $155 and $172. Bulls topped at $226 with a good number of 1700-2300 # bulls bringing from $201-221. We did have a few cow-calf pairs that were well received – 14 older cows with mostly April calves at side brought $3,925.

Lots of fairs and junior livestock sales happening around the state! Judith Basin Fair (Stanford) and Wheatland County Fair (Harlowton) sales are Friday evening, July 31st. Phillips County Fair (Dodson) sale is Saturday morning, August 1st.

We’ll sell every other week in August – next sale date is August 11th! More details on the website. Thank you for bringing business our way!~Kyle Shobe

** LLA MARKET REPORT ** JULY 7, 2026 **

Hello Central Montana & Beyond! Nice run of cattle this week at LLA with a tally count at 331! The sale feature was a stick-out set of fall-born steers from Mark & Pam Fellows at Choteau that chased to the top of the hill and then some! 61 head of 773 pounders brought right at $400/cwt and 18 head of the younger herd mates weighed 663 # and brought $443! It’s another remarkable example of the CASH market reigning supreme after a discouraging past ten days on the CME. Cows and bulls are holding relatively steady. There isn’t as much action in those markets at the moment which is mostly a product of shorter supply to build loads this time of year.

Superior’s Week in the Rockies is in full swing this week, with over 241,000 head selling. Montana calves are selling Friday – we’ll have a report out following the sale. Our schedule at LLA is this: NO SALE ON THE 14TH AND 21ST. We’ll be back on July 28th with an Early Yearling Special & All-Class Cattle Sale and we already have some dandy yearling consignments on the books! More details on the website.

County Fairs have begun around the state. I hope you'll be there supporting the next generation of ag producers in your local area! I'm headed to Cheyenne Frontier Days next week for the 10-day western celebration there, July 17-26.

Thank you for bringing business our way! ~Kyle Shobe.

My friend Justin McKee was at the National Mall in Washington D.C. showcasing the western world to the rest of the world! What a great way to not only celebrate freedom and America, but to educate folks on our heritage, our culture and our way of life out here. Rodeo is acting as a bridge between urban America and rural America and it's helping tell our story! Production agriculture is not just the lifeline and livelihood of those of us in the industry, it's America's freedom security! Long live ranchers and farmers. Long live rural communities. Long live cowboys!

** LLA MARKET REPORT ** JUNE 23, 2026 **

Hello Central Montana & Beyond! Over 900 head of cattle, sheep, goats and mules on the tally this week! It was a true ALL-CLASS sale for sure! Markets continue to be steady along on all counts! You’ll notice the cows getting heavier across the scale, slicker in look and better in quality as green grass is contributing to some excellent body condition scores which equals higher yield and higher value. This is the time of year fill and weigh-up are on full display and we do our best to balance that as your marketing agent. Some of the spread in the market is due to this and this alone. Our sheep turnout was good with almost 500 head in town! Over 60% of the sheep offering were cull ewes, which brought mostly from $87-107/cwt. Lambs are quite a little higher since the fall market – light lambs chased all the way to $325/cwt, heavier lambs were mostly $270-301.

Superior’s Corn Belt Classic was absolutely off the charts! It always features a big contingency of Central Montana calves and the market established through the auction in South Sioux City, Nebraska certainly has set the bar for the summer! Our next big sale is the Week in the Rockies July 6-10th.

June 17-20 was the Livestock Marketing Association annual convention and World Livestock Auctioneer Championship at St. Onge Livestock, St. Onge, South Dakota. We had an incredibly productive week working on action items that will have a positive effect on livestock auctions, cow-calf producers and feeders nationwide. Congratulations to Jace Thompson, Billings, Montana, the newly crowned World Champion.

We are on our summer schedule here at LLA with our next sale on July 7th. Visit our website for a complete schedule & much more! Thank you for bringing business our way! ~Kyle Shobe
