Here's the deets:
For owner-occupied homes within Lewistown City Limits and the Lewistown Rural Fire District, the fire department will supply and install battery-operated smoke detectors.

Renting your home? Your property owner is responsible for providing smoke detectors. Renters are responsible for changing the batteries yearly.

Lewistown, leaf pickup starts Monday, October 19, so this weekend is a good chance to get your leaves out to the street before your neighborhood’s scheduled day.

Our crews will be making their way around town, and a couple of things really help them get the job done:

✔️ Check the schedule below and have your leaves ready before your pickup date.
✔️ Move parked vehicles off the street that day so crews can reach your leaves.

Each area gets one scheduled pickup, so please plan ahead. As always, Montana weather may mean a few adjustments.

And if you have a neighbor who could use a hand with the raking, this is a good weekend to check in. A little help can mean a lot.

Lewistown residents can drop off branches from the recent storm in the gravel parking lot behind the Council on Aging at 307 W. Watson Street for the next couple of weeks.

With heavy snow bringing down trees, branches, and power lines, please put your safety first. Treat every downed power line as live, keep your distance, and stay away from trees or branches touching lines.

Lewistown, our crews are out responding.
Here’s what we need you to know right now.

Heavy snow is bringing down branches and trees across town, with reports of damage to roofs and vehicles and downed power lines.

The Lewistown Fire Department currently has two crews responding to downed lines, and Lewistown Police officers are patrolling to identify hazards, make sure they’re reported, and help keep residents safe.

We know it’s unsettling to see damage around your neighborhood. Our teams are actively working through this, and you can help by taking these precautions:
⚠️ Treat every downed power line as LIVE, even if it isn’t sparking. Stay well away, and keep children and pets away.
⚠️ Avoid trees with heavily snow-loaded branches and anything touching a power line, including fences, vehicles, and fallen limbs.
⚠️ Please don’t try to move downed lines or clear branches tangled in them.
⚠️ If you can, stay inside and limit travel so crews have room to work.

Call 911 for downed power lines or an immediate threat to someone’s safety.
Please don’t rely on a social media comment to report an emergency.

Thank you to our fire crews, police officers, and utility workers responding in these conditions, and to everyone giving them space and looking out for their neighbors.
