Navajo weaving, known as diyogí, originated after the Navajo people learned weaving techniques from Pueblo Indians, likely between AD 1000 and 1200, with wool introduced after Spanish colonization in the 16th century. Early weavings were utilitarian, including cloaks, dresses, and saddle blankets, but by the 19th century, Navajo textiles became prized trade items among Indigenous peoples and later for non-Native tourists.

Join us to view and bid on these fine weavings that will sell at live auction on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the Cabin Fever Auction in Lewistown, MT. View all the items in the auction at www.ShobeAuction.com.

The squash blossom necklace is not just a decorative item but a representation of cultural identity and spiritual significance. The squash blossom necklace is a significant piece of Native American jewelry, particularly among the Navajo people. It features a unique design with blossom shapes that are thought to be inspired by traditional Spanish designs, symbolizing prosperity and fertility.
The Naja symbol, often found in the center of the necklace, represents the moon and is believed to bring protection and good fortune. Historically, the necklace has evolved from simple silver bead designs to the intricate squash blossom style we see today, reflecting cultural heritage and artistry.

Join us on Saturday, April 25, 2026, as we offer these two absolutely beautiful necklaces as part of the Cabin Fever Auction in Lewistown, MT. View our full online catalog at www.ShobeAuction.com.

Miles City Saddlery Co. was officially formed in 1909, when Clem Kathmann, along with Frank Jelinek and Bert Coleman, bought out Charlie Coggshall. Over the coming years the shop was quite busy producing saddles and other tack. There were highs and lows and several ownership changes. In 1982 the chop was closed. However, in 1989, Jack and Mary Lou Deibel purchased the company and in 1997, fully resumed the saddle making entity. Saddle making was back in Miles City!

These original pieces from the Miles City Saddlery will be honored and offered at live auction on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in the Cabin Fever Auction in Lewistown, MT. These are just a few of the 350+/- lots that will be offered live and through online bidding at www.ShobeAuction.com

Clarence Cuts the Rope, a Montana native, was born in 1935 in Hays, MT. A proud member of the Gros Ventre Tribe, his family surname originates from a story in which his grandfather freed a friend by cutting the rope that bound him during a horse-stealing incident, giving the family its distinctive name. Clarence grew up learning about his culture and traditions from his grandparents, which later influenced his artistic themes. He worked in multiple mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink, and bronze, often signing his works with a drawing of a Native pipe as a personal logo. He is best known for his use of light and color in depicting the wide Montana skies and Native American cultural scenes.

We are pleased to celebrate his artistry through these fine works that will sell through the Cabin Fever Auction on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Lewistown, MT. Please join us if you can or bid live online at www.ShobeAuction.com.
