Public Input Sought on Future FDR Boulevard Extension, from Pegg Rd. to MD 246 - Great Mills Rd., in Lexington Park

A Community Planning Meeting for the FDR Boulevard Extended Planning Study will take place on Tuesday, May26, 2026, from 5pm to 7:30pm at the Lexington Park Library, located at 21677 FDR Boulevard in Lexington Park. The meeting will be an open house format, allowing community members to participate at their convenience.

Construction has begun on the extension of FDR Boulevard (Phase 3B), from Buck Hewitt Rd. to Pegg Rd, for a distance of 1.0 mile. Please be aware of construction vehicles and workers in this area. Additional project information and updates can be found using this link:

The roadway opening for the extension of FDR Blvd (Phase 3A) is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, November 14th. Please drive with caution and yield at the new roundabout intersections. This FDR extension is located between MD 237-Chancellors Run Rd and Buck Hewitt Rd.

Construction of the extension of FDR Boulevard (MD 237 to Buck Hewitt Rd.) is nearing completion and we look forward to the opening of the roadway to traffic this November. The contractor is currently installing the final surface of asphalt paving and will complete remaining work items during the end of October and early November.

Construction of FDR Boulevard Phase 3A, from MD 237 to Buck Hewitt Rd., continues with work being performed at the MD 237 intersection. The traffic signal pole at the SE corner was recently relocated to allow for the construction of the FDR Blvd southbound lanes. A change in traffic pattern will occur over the next few weeks on Fire Dept. Lane (future FDR Blvd) to use the southbound side of FDR. Work will then proceed on the northbound side of roadway.

Additional work is underway towards MacArthur Boulevard (San Souci) with construction of 2 stormwater management facilities and the roadway section. Completion of Phase 3A is currently scheduled for late May of 2023.

Utility relocation work is underway for the extension of FDR Boulevard Phase 3A, from MD237 to Buck Hewitt Rd. Washington Gas is relocating approx. 2,200 linear feet of 6 inch main within and along the County Right-of-Way. Relocations of electric, telecommunication and cable is also being performed at Md 237(Fire Dept. Lane), MacArthur Blvd. and Buck Hewitt Rd intersections. Roadway construction is planned to begin in late fall 2021.

Pavement markings have been installed and remaining work items to be completed the first week of June. Roadway extension opening is planned for June 9th.

FDR Boulevard, from First Colony Boulevard to Old Rolling Road (0.72 mile), is now open to traffic. Please drive safely and follow the new traffic pattern established.
