Tim Burcham, CFRE, is the founder and president of the Burcham Solutions Group based in Lexington, KY which provides professional guidance to nonprofit organizations in the areas of philanthropic fundraising, strategic planning with an emphasis on change and project management, and executive search. A certified fundraising executive since 1993 and a certified change management professional since 2011, Tim has more than 30 years of executive philanthropic fundraising and organizational leadership experience that also encompassed strategic planning, marketing and public relations, grants and contracts, web and digital services, conferences, and events, change and project management, and governmental affairs. He served for 18 years as the founding Vice President for Advancement and Foundation Executive Director for Kentucky’s largest institution of higher education – the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Prior to joining KCTCS, Tim served 8 years as the first Director of Development for the University of Kentucky Community College System and 4 years as the Associate Director of Development for the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Tim began his professional career as the first full-time admissions counselor for Marshall University in Huntington, WV for 3 years followed by 7 years as the Associate Director of Admissions for the University of Kentucky. Under his leadership, KCTCS mounted three comprehensive multi-year, statewide major gift campaigns that encompassed more than 70 individual projects in 17 locations across Kentucky that raised in excess of $200 million in philanthropic support, built an endowment of $50 million+, and attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in matching funds and appropriations from local, state, and federal sources. Tim is recognized internationally for his three decades of leadership with the Association of Fundraising Professional (AFP) comprised of 240 chapters and more 28,000 members around the world. He served as the AFP Global Board Chair and served as the Chair of the AFP Bluegrass Chapter. Tim currently serves on the fundraising board for the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy in the United States. Tim also founded the AFP Political Action Committee, the only PAC in America focused exclusively on the charitable fundraising profession and philanthropy. Burcham Solutions is a member firm of the Giving Institute. Tim currently serves as a voting director of the Giving Institute Board of Directors and chairs the Marketing Committee.
