Folks, I need to share something important about receiving freight — because it just happened on a shipment to one of our customers in Oklahoma, and Ronda is working the claim with the carrier right now.
Every machine that leaves Collier Equipment carries a bright green label that says INSPECT FOR DAMAGE, with specific instructions right on it. There's also a shock watch label on the box — if it's tripped red, that package was mishandled, period. See photos.
Here's what I need every customer to do, and I mean every single time:
1. READ the green label before you do anything else.
2. INSPECT the shipment BEFORE you sign the bill of lading.
3. If you see damage, NOTATE all of it on the bill of lading before you sign — and have the driver sign it too, acknowledging the damage.
4. Know this: you do NOT have to accept a damaged shipment. You can refuse it and have it returned to sender.
Signing a clean bill of lading on a damaged shipment ties our hands on the claim. These two minutes protect you and they protect us.
We'll take care of our customer on this one regardless — that's what we do. But help us help you: read the label, inspect first, notate everything.
