The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program run by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program to help low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices like a laptop or tablet.

You are likely eligible if your household’s income is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line, or if you or someone you live with currently receives a government benefit like SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, WIC, Pell Grant, or Free and Reduced-Price Lunch.

If your household is eligible, you could receive:

- Up to a $30/month discount on your internet service
- Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands
- A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)
- A low cost service plan that may be fully covered through the ACP*

Applications for the Affordable Connectivity Program are now being accepted.

Get Ready for 10 Digit Dialing (Required on October 24th, 2021)

Beginning Saturday, April 24, callers in Hawai‘i are encouraged to dial the area code (808 for land lines and many cell phones in the state) plus the telephone number when making local calls, six months before this will be required for local calls to be completed.

The change to 10-digit dialing for local calls is driven by the Federal Communications Commission’s adoption of an order (FCC 20-100) that approved 988 as the three-digit dialing code to reach the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline, starting on July 16, 2022.

The order requires all telecommunications carriers such as Hawaiian Telcom, interconnected voice over internet protocol providers and one-way VoIP providers to make any network changes necessary to ensure that users can dial 988 to reach the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline by July 16, 2022.

April 24 through Oct. 23 is when 10-digit dialing is encouraged, but seven-digit calls will still go through.

Beginning on Oct. 24, callers in Hawai‘i must dial the area code plus telephone number, or local calls will not be completed.
