Friday AM Update: we just received word that we can give these pups until end-of-day TODAY to find placement. That means they have until 7PM today, Friday, August 7. Please do email if you plan on coming to meet one of them.

Atlanta, these dogs need you. 💔

Originally, each of these dogs had a euthanasia deadline of today, Thursday, at 7PM. No one came for them. We even stayed open an extra hour, hoping someone would walk through the doors...but still, no one came.

These are good dogs who deserve loving homes, time to decompress, and the chance to experience the life they've been waiting for. Euthanasia is always an absolute last resort, but we urgently need our community to step up.

Each of these dogs has received one final extension and must find placement by Friday, August 7 at 11AM. That's when our doors open. If you've been thinking about fostering or adopting, please be there when we open, ready to meet a dog and speak with staff.

Even better? None of the urgent dogs this week need to be the only dog in the home. Every one of them has the potential to live with another dog, and most attend playgroup regularly. You even got to meet several of them during today's Urgent Dog Playgroup Live.

If you've been waiting for a sign, this is it.

Fosters must live in Georgia. Out-of-state adoptions are welcome, but adopters are responsible for arranging transport.

🚨🚨 911—CRITICAL EMERGENCY IN QUEENS 🚨🚨

We just received an urgent call about a dog who was brutally hit by a car in Queens. His leg is broken, all of his teeth are cracked down to the roots but that’s just the beginning.

His body is nothing but skin and bones, he is covered in f***s, ticks, and fleas.

Rope marks have sliced deeply into his neck and there is a gaping OLD, infected wound on his head that is infested with maggots.

This dog has been TORTURED and now he has finally escaped his hell only to be struck by a car and left with critical injuries.

We rushed him to the emergency hospital, where the doctors are actively triaging him.

We are horrified. We are outraged. No living being should ever suffer like this.

Please help us save his life. We are just scratching the surface of his injuries and will update everyone as soon as possible.

An 11-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida is comforting homeless animals while making history. Nehemiah Turner is the first child to reach 100 hours of reading to dogs as part of the Jacksonville Humane Society's Pawsitive Reading program.
