Loring Air Force Base, situated in Limestone, Maine, has a rich history dating back to the early days of the Cold War. Initially established to bolster the United States' strategic air power, Loring AFB played a pivotal role in national defense for several decades.

Strategically located near the northeastern tip of the United States, Loring AFB was ideally positioned for long-range bombing missions over the Atlantic and into the Soviet Union. The base housed B-36 Peacemakers and later B-52 Stratofortresses, both essential components of America's nuclear deterrent strategy. Additionally, the base's location facilitated quick access to northern polar routes, critical for the Cold War era.

The Potato Chip plant is OPEN! On the factory floor of the newly operational Taste of Maine Potato Chip plant in Limestone, the kettle chips are humming along the line.

After more than two years of planning and construction, the upstart Taste of Maine is now producing kettle chips.

The Blokarts are coming! Come join the fun sailing at the Loring Commerce Centre this SEP 16-20 for the Blokart East Coast Championships.

I have an extra Blokart for hire to anyone interested in coming to the mighty Loring AFB in Maine OCT 8-12 for the East Coast Championships, or for the next regatta at Horseneck in MA NOV 7-9. The kart can be used in either Gold or Silver fleet whether you’re experienced or not. IM me if you’re interested.
