As we reflect today on the blessings we’ve been afforded, we also hold space for the harms of colonialism intertwined with this holiday. In this spirit, we share the following land acknowledgement from the City of Lincoln Government Climate Action Plan and honor the histories of Indigenous Peoples in the area where our company is based.

"We want to acknowledge that our community rests on the traditional lands of the Ponca, Omaha, Dakota and Oto Peoples past and present, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations. This calls us to commit to work in partnership with our Indigenous Peoples, continuing to learn how to be better stewards of the land we now inhabit as well."

The $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill is officially signed into law. Included are $110 billion for roads and bridges, $65 billion towards broadband access, $55 billion for clean water, and $8 billion to create the first federal network of electric vehicle charging stations.

It also “clear[s] the way for Congress to advance the core of Biden’s climate agenda—the Build Back Better Act, which designates $555 billion to aggressively combat climate change and cut emissions in half over the next decade.”

First up: Indigenous People as land stewards – “Dozens of countries are backing an effort that would protect 30 percent of Earth’s land and water. Native people, often among the most effective stewards of nature, have been disregarded, or worse, in the past.”

🇱🇷 As USAID - US Agency for International Development celebrates its 60th anniversary, new USAID Administrator Samantha Power nodded to its founder John F. Kennedy during an event hosted by Georgetown University in partnership with U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC). Director Power’s vision for global development underscores the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion.

“If we truly want to make aid inclusive, local voices have to be at the center of what we do. Otherwise, we risk increasing systemic inequities that are in place.”

Our team has proudly served on USAID projects and on the USGLC Nebraska Advisory Board.

Like any government agency, the biggest American foreign aid group has its problems. This week, its new administrator Samantha Power outlined her solutions.
