Students from the Weeping Water FFA and Raymond Central FFA chapters helped kick off our Feed the Farmer events this week at our Manley and Ceresco locations. Harvest season is a busy time, and serving a warm meal is one way we thank the farmers who keep our communities growing.

We're excited to announce that E15 gasoline is coming soon to select Frontier locations. Made with renewable ethanol, E15 helps create demand for the corn grown by our farmer-owners and customers while providing another fuel option for drivers.

National 4-H Week reminds us of the impact youth are making in agriculture and in our rural communities. 🍀

Meet Lynnet Talcott, our September feature in celebration of the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Raised on a farm near Palmyra, Nebraska, Lynnet grew up alongside cattle, crops, and a family that worked together. As the oldest of four children, she eagerly took every opportunity to ride in the combine with her father and learn the skills that would one day shape her own future.

"I always hoped I would be able to farm, live on a farm, and raise my kids there too," Lynnet said.

After earning a degree in Agribusiness from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lynnet and her husband, Norris, began building their own operation during the farm crisis of the 1980s. Starting with just a few pieces of equipment, livestock, and a determination to make it work, they steadily grew their farm while raising a family.

Over the years, Lynnet has worn many hats on the operation. But if you ask her favorite role, the answer comes quickly: driving the combine during harvest.

"I love to run the combine," she said. "I would probably combine all year round if I could."

While Lynnet’s hands-on work around the farm is impressive, she considers her greatest accomplishment to be the family they have raised along the way and the values they have passed on to future generations.

"I want farming to be a legacy,” she said. “If my children and grandchildren want to do it in the future, they'll have the skills and knowledge to do so."

She encourages the next generation to approach agriculture with confidence, patience, and a willingness to work alongside others.

"You need to focus on what you're doing, but also what the world needs," Lynnet said. "Think about how your role is going to improve your family, your community, and your world."

On Tuesday, we had the opportunity to host a delegation of corn growers from Mexico. We enjoyed sharing how the cooperative system works, learning about their operations back home, and discussing the many ways Nebraska growers position themselves for success year after year.
