Recently, our CEO, Haley Pertzborn, and President-Elect Phillip Vuchetich joined pharmacy leaders from across the country at the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) Leadership Conference. Alongside fellow state and national association leaders, they participated in discussions on effective governance, shared strategies to better serve members, and learned about key national priorities shaping the future of pharmacy.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring these insights back to Nebraska and continue strengthening the value we deliver to our members!

The NPA, alongside the American Pharmacists Association, is excited to announce that the Main Street Pharmacy Access Act (formerly called ECAPS) has made a significant step in the legislative process and will advance to be considered by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over health policy.

The bill would establish Medicare Part B coverage for pharmacists to test and treat COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and strep throat in states where pharmacists are authorized to provide these services. Importantly, this reimbursement framework would help create a sustainable financial model that enables pharmacists to deliver timely, accessible, and cost-effective care for Medicare beneficiaries while also helping reduce strain on emergency departments, urgent care centers, and physician offices and preventing avoidable hospitalizations.

The NPA thanks Rep. Adrian Smith for his leadership in this important legislation. He has been a focused pharmacy champion, and we applaud his efforts.

A former bartender and aspiring chef, he is always searching for the next new recipe.

Meet Maddie! 👋 We are so excited to welcome Maddie Moore to the NPA this week as our newest pharmacy student rotation!

Maddie is a 2027 PharmD candidate at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She is from Holdrege, NE, and attended Wayne State College through the RHOP Program before starting at UNMC. Maddie is a pharmacist intern at Boys Town National Research Hospital, where she works with pediatric patients. Her pharmacy interests include emergency medicine, oncology, and hospital pharmacy in rural communities.

When asked how she hopes this rotation will support her goals, Maddie shared that she wants to learn more about the programs and opportunities the NPA provides for small towns. We love that Maddie's heart is already set on returning to rural Nebraska to serve communities that are often overlooked, and we can't wait to help equip her with the tools and resources to do exactly that.
