APX Pytheos

APX Pytheos Alpha Rho Chi is a national professional fraternity that extends its membership to all students of architecture and the allied arts.

Its purpose is to build and improve connections among students in the universities and colleges throughout the country who display a common interest in any form of design and the built environment. The strength of Alpha Rho Chi is derived from a broad range of majors including architecture, interior design, construction management and engineering. Alpha Rho Chi provides an opportunity to build rel

ationships between design majors and majors of other allied arts. Alpha Rho Chi sees extensive relationships between the allied arts as essential for students wishing to equip themselves for a professional environment that is inherently interdisciplinary. Through professional development activities including tours, speakers and lecture series, forum and design competitions, just to name a few, members are offered the opportunity to expand their professional experiences and connections and build extensive networks.

Alpha Rho Chi is excited to present the winner of the "Who is Alpha Rho Chi?" video contest! Congratulations to Hao Phung, Daedalus AA, whose brothers-across-the-country-featured entry was selected by reviewers and the Grand Council. Architecture Students Recognized with SARA Awards

Kevin Bukowski (BSD-Arch '15) and Liz Szatko (BSD-Arch '15) were awarded a Silver Award of Honor from the Society of American Registered Architects | New York (SARA|NY) 2015 Design Awards. Bukowski and Szatko were internationally recognized for their Architecture-410 Air Rights project and were selected as one of six winning student teams along with students from Cornell University and the ETH Zurich. These student teams join a winner’s list that includes international architecture firms Perkins+Will, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, and NADAAA. Projects were evaluated based on 1) Program Solution, 2) Site and Space Planning, 3) Construction System, 4) Overall Design Solution and Aesthetics, and 5) Details and Function.

Bukowski and Szatko’s Air Rights project was previously recognized as one of four finalist for the SGH/Dri-Design Competition in December 2014. The project concept and narrative has also been translated into a co-authored article entitled "RE-Landmarked" forthcoming in CLOG: Landmark issue. CLOG is an architectural journal where each issue explores, from multiple viewpoints and through a variety of means, a single subject particularly relevant to architecture now.
