We have received several calls regarding cell phone alerts advising residents to evacuate. At this time, there is no danger and no need to evacuate within the City of Lincoln.

City officials and emergency services are aware of the concerns and are monitoring the situation. If an evacuation or other emergency action becomes necessary, information will be provided through official City of Lincoln and emergency management channels.

UPDATE, 4 p.m. - US 78 is now open.

City of Pell City emergency crews are on the scene of a commercial vehicle accident on US 78 near Bamberg Drive that occurred on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026.

A tanker truck carrying liquid overturned, causing partial road closures. Emergency services responded promptly to the scene.

No leaks have been detected. However, the contents of the tanker are classified as a flammable liquid. As a standard safety precaution, officials are conducting a localized evacuation of the immediate area while the tanker is safely emptied. All affected local businesses have been notified.

"Our teams responded quickly, and the situation is entirely under control," said Pell City Fire Chief Jerry Dailey. "There is no immediate danger to the public, and we are taking these steps strictly out of an abundance of caution to ensure the scene remains safe during the offloading process."

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and plan alternate routes until further notice. Updates will be provided as they become available.

It was truly an honor to meet and personally thank the crew who responded with us earlier this month on a structure fire. A special shoutout to Eastaboga Fire Department’s Dawson Dulaney, Jaylon Dulaney, and Chuck Hicks.

Jaylon Dulaney, along with Tim Odom (not pictured), conducted an interior search of a smoke-filled structure to rescue animals in distress, bringing them safely to the attention of crews outside. Their quick actions not only saved the animals but also contributed to the preservation of the affected structure. We’re grateful for their courage and dedication.
