Speculation and rumors are exactly that—speculation and rumors.

Working alongside state investigators and insurance agencies, we have thoroughly investigated all commercial fires within the City of Lincoln. To date, none of our findings support the theory of a “fire bug” or serial arsonist. Our investigations are guided by facts and evidence, not speculation.

With the exception of one incident, all previously investigated fires have been determined to be electrical in nature. One fire was classified as undetermined after samples were submitted for forensic testing and analysis.

What these buildings have in common is their age, expansions or modifications over time, and increased electrical demands placed on systems that were not originally designed to carry today's electrical loads. These factors can significantly increase the risk of electrical failures and related fire hazards.

We remain committed to conducting thorough investigations and providing accurate information to the public as facts become available.
