Zoute Grand Prix Car Week ends on the Belgian coast this weekend, with two sales three days apart.

Broad Arrow sells today at Approach Golf in Knokke-Heist: 82 lots, led by a 2015 LaFerrari estimated at €4 million to €5 million, a Guards Red Carrera GT, one of 80 in that colour, and a 918 Spyder Weissach. Bonhams follows on Sunday with the Keller Collection: 12 cars, every one without reserve.

Three of the weekend's cars would look right in an American garage.

A 1970 Miura P400S, chassis 4578, one of 114 late cars with ventilated discs, believed bought new by Swiss racing driver Toulo de Graffenried. Bonhams, estimate €1.6 million to €2 million, no reserve.

A 1965 AC Cobra 289, one of 45 leaf-spring COB cars built in right-hand drive. It was later converted to left-hand drive, painted red and exported to California. This car has done the Atlantic before. Bonhams, €700,000 to €900,000.

A 1984 Countach 5000 S, one of 321, black over red and black leather. Broad Arrow, €500,000 to €700,000.

All three are well past 25 years old, so they enter the US with no EPA or DOT conversion. The hypercars are a different file: under 25 years old, a European-delivered car needs federal compliance or a Show or Display exemption before it can be registered in the US.

After the hammer it is simple. We collect the car at the sale and it goes into a container. Ocean freight from Europe runs from $2,750 to New York and from $3,350 to California.

We collect the car wherever the hammer falls and ship it door to door by ocean or air, through our own warehouses in California, Florida and New Jersey on the way in or out.

In 1966 Ford took the GT40 to Le Mans and finished first, second and third. Then it won the race again in 1967, 1968 and 1969. Ford built just over 100 originals. One sold for $11 million in 2012, and the rest rarely come up for sale. If you want one, you build one, and that’s why the GT40 never really went out of production.

Superformance still builds them under license, with official GT40P serial numbers. Chris Ashton at took one of those cars and made it his own:

-Ford Racing 52XS 5.2-liter DOHC V8
-Quaife 5-speed dogleg transaxle
-Hand-built equal-length 180-degree headers
-Carbon widebody, roof scoop designed in-house
-3D-printed headlights and taillights

It debuted at SEMA in 2021 and turned up in CSR2. This April it was shown at in Düsseldorf, where European crowds got to see it up close. Now it’s crossing the ocean again.

We ship cars like this door to door by ocean and air, through our warehouses in California, Florida and New Jersey.

In July 1964 Billy Wade won four NASCAR races in a row in a Bud Moore Mercury. Nobody had done that before. That Mercury was a Marauder, the same fastback sitting in showrooms that summer with a 427 on the option sheet.

Mercury built 3,863 of them in the half-year of 1963. The 1964 R-code Super Marauder ran a 427 with two four-barrels, 425 hp. 42 were built, 9 of them Park Lane fastbacks, and one made $100,000 at Mecum Indy in 2017. Parnelli Jones took a Marauder up Pikes Peak on dirt in 14 minutes 17.4 seconds in 1963, a stock car record.

Five years later came the X-100: 5,635 in 1969, 2,646 in 1970, every one with a 429 at 360 hp and 480 lb-ft, matte black Sport-Tone deck, fender skirts.

Now the part that matters. A 1965 Marauder sold at Mecum in December for $23,100 and a 1964 sold in July for $38,500. That is a NASCAR-bodied big block for the price of a used SUV, and more than 30,000 American classics leave US ports every year, most of them bound for Germany and the Netherlands. Over 30 years old, a Marauder enters the EU at 0% duty and 7% VAT in Germany, and it leaves Newark or Oakland in a container from our own warehouse.

Japan to the US, by the numbers.

Yokohama to California: around $2,850 per car in a shared container, about 17 days on the water. Yokohama to New York: around $3,050, about 45 days via the Panama Canal. Figure two weeks on the Japan side for collection, export paperwork and loading before the ship leaves.

Duties and taxes apply on arrival, but on a car over 25 years old they are much lower than on a brand-new foreign car.

Now the fun part. In 2026 the 2001 model year clears the 25-year rule, and 2001 was a very good year in Japan: the R34 GT-R V-Spec II, the AP1 S2000, the JZA80 Supra RZ, the FD3S RX-7 Type R Bathurst and the GDB Impreza WRX STI.

A worked example: a 1998 R33 GT-R bought at auction in Japan crosses to our own warehouse in Oakland for around $2,850 in a shared container. Our own team unloads it there and handles the paperwork.

Goodwood Revival runs Friday to Sunday. Saturday and three-day tickets sold out weeks ago. This year's tributes go to Sir Jack Brabham and Maserati.

The Bonhams sale on Saturday is the one to watch. A 1962 Aston Martin DB4 SS Vantage Convertible leads at £700,000 to £900,000. Behind it, a 1936 Aston Martin 2-Litre Speed Model, a Nissan P35 Group C prototype and a Jordan 191 Formula 1 car. A 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS is estimated at £300,000 to £350,000.

For an American buyer, the hammer is the easy part. A UK purchase has to be collected, documented for export, containerised at the port and cleared on arrival under this year's tariff rules. Our guide to buying in the UK and the duty math for US importers is on wcshipping.com.

West Coast Shipping moves collector cars between the US and the world through our own warehouses in Oakland, Newark and Miami.

2nd in class at the Nürburgring 24 hour race. A serious accomplishment for the HWA team. This is car 61 that’s now with us at The Quail. We caught up with Gordian von Schöning to tell us more.

75 years of Pebble Beach, and the lawn still sets the standard.

4 days in Monterey with the people who restore, collect and deal these cars. Fog at dawn, the 18th fairway fills at sunrise with the finest cars in the world sitting on the grass waiting on the top prize: the Best of Show award.

For the 75th, it went to the 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster, one of two ever built and once owned by Clark Gable.

John Hennessey, in his own words, on the car that just broke cover at The Quail.

The Blackbird is Hennessey’s third hypercar. Instead of chasing another top-speed record, it goes with a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 built with Ilmor, a gated six-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, and a cabin with zero screens. 800–850 hp past 9,000 rpm. Under 3,000 lbs dry. 0–60 in 2.5.

The name is a tribute to the SR-71 with the chine line down the flank comes straight off the plane, and the active vertical stabilizers deploy at 71 mph and sit at ±71 degrees. 71 cars will be built. $2.5M each. Two-thirds already allocated before it was ever shown in public.

Our exciting time at the Quail, with so many incredible cars that we lost count. We did count 13 Ferrari F40s, the most we’ve seen in a single location! Thank you to The Peninsula Signature Events for the incredible hospitality. Can’t wait until next year!

RM Sotheby’s was off to a fiery start on the first day during Monterey Car Week. Thankfully the Delahaye vintage racer was not damaged.

Most of the headliners this evening were pre-war cars which excited with new records, including $9,080,000 paid for the ex-Clark Gable 1935 Duesenberg.

We look forward to the next 2 days of auctions where more records are expected to be set!
