Unlike most scissor companies, we guarantee our parts and we carry parts for ALL of our shears. We will replace any parts that are worn, defective, or lost for free. A stylist wrote us- "I have the ergonomic swivel thumb shisato shears. I love them. However, I lost the bumper . . . Anyway I can get just one of those ordered? " Yesterday, we mailed off the correct bumper to this customer all the way to North Pole, Alaska at no cost to her. Why it's important to know the steel grade of a shear: Higher steel categories take a better edge and hold it longer, but that also depends on workmanship and the tempering process of the shear. Steel categories from lowest to highest quality:
420 (used in almost all Pakistani scissors)
440A
440C
S-1 (“cobalted” steels start at this category)
S-3
V-1 (measurable amounts of Vanadium & Titanium start here)
V-10
V-10 G or V-10 Gold
ATS-314 (highest amounts of Cobalt, Vanadium & Titanium in a steel category)
Boutique "powdered" steels such as Super Gold 2
