Gardner Chair Caning

Gardner Chair Caning Hand weaving a chair seat. I work with Rattan. I typically do the Seven Step Method. but I enjoy As of last year, I finally took a class, and learned how to cane.

My grandfather, aka Paw-Paw, has been caning for the past 70 years. After I took his class, I started helping him and his chair business. after a few months I was doing so well, that I decided to take over the family business, just with a little change in the name. My name may be Celena Smith, but I will Always be a Gardner at heart. During my first year in this business, I have already completed 36 chairs.

Just to let you all know the Fremont Birchard Library will be holding a craft demonstration day March 11, from 11-2. I will be there demonstrating along with many very talented artists/crafters. Also , I will have a sign up sheet for caning and footstool classes. So come on out and check out it.
