Most old HP Designjets don't have a problem with "expired ink" -- ink never really expires! So if you have a choice of expired original HP ink and refilled cartridges, buy the original HP ink. Too often refilled cartridges have cracks in the microscopic wires that run to the jets. Original HP ink, if it has stayed in the foil or cardboard packaging will not have this problem.
