For nearly 20 years, I've had the opportunity to not only be behind the camera for so many families but to also have a front row seat in watching so many families begin. It will never be lost on me the gift of those opportunities- whether it's just to be present, supportive or simply capture the moment. No matter who is in front of my camera, I know how truly special these moments are...
Meredith and I met way back when as nurses in the NICU. As life would have it, her journey to parenthood wasn't smooth and life offered her the unique new perspective that comes with the title of NICU parent. And now, several years later, they were elated to grow their family again. As life would have it, what would should have been joyous visits to the doctor turned into multiple specialist visits, grueling tests, long hard conversations and tedious and thoughtful planning. They were faced with the devastating reality that their time with their sweet Libby was going to be incredibly short. With the bravery that only a parent can muster up, Meredith and Kolin chose to savor every moment of the time they are given with their daughter while navigating the delicate balance of preparing her big brother and sister for life without her here.
When I tell you these family is pure joy, I mean it. You can see it. You can feel it. You can't help but be inspired by it. They are living proof that life doesn't have to be perfect to be celebrated. Their sweet Libby has known nothing but love every second of her life. And while her life on this side of heaven will never be long enough, I am absolutely certain that their baby girl will know nothing but pure love every second she is here....
Life is incredibly hard. Life is incredibly beautiful. Both can be true... And in the words of her big sister Grace, "I'm going to give her a big hug and a kiss before she goes to Jesus." Meredith and Kolin, I hope you find some comfort in her sweet little heart and words. 💓
