Professional workspaces are ever-evolving. Luckily for us, our community is rich with innovative minds making coworking more dynamic than ever. Steve Palmer, principal at Rock Candy Coworking, has been pioneering the Warwick Township workspace scene since 2017.

Steve’s location on the Rock Lititz campus has been in demand from day one, and as his operation grew, he realized he needed more private spaces where members could quietly make phone calls and join video meetings. In 2024, the LRCDC awarded Rock Candy’s grant application, funding a project that broke ground in co-working privacy by using sound-damping meeting booths. These portable booths allow coworkers to enjoy the bustle and activity of a joint space while still having the option to conduct important business in privacy. Steve credits this project with opening the door to even more growth for his company.

Take a walk through downtown Lititz, and you’ll likely get a “whiff” of one of our favorite projects.

The smell of roasting coffee is commonplace on the east end of Main Street, and it’s an aromatic reminder of the power of community. Whiff has been roasting coffee right here in Lititz since 1999, and has been owned by Keith and Jenessa Frey since 2017. The Freys had operated from two separate locations, a cafe on Broad Street and their roastery on East Main Street, until they unexpectedly had to relocate their cafe. The move was outside of their control and created a mountain of unplanned expenses.

But their business acumen was excellent, and their product, as Lititz residents well know, is top-notch. The Lititz Regional Community Development Corporation heard their story, studied their plans to expand the existing roastery to include their retail space and tasting room, and knew their project was a winner for the community.

A $50,000 LRCDC grant helped them see their project to fruition. Now, a legacy Lititz building hosts two beloved Lititz businesses: Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery and the Whiff Roasters Roastery and Cafe.

It started with an idea...

A town as sweet as Lititz is the perfect place for Santa to stop and meet with kids before the big day, but he needed a place to stay. The hardworking, community-loving folks at Lititz Springs Park got to work dreaming up a cozy cottage, a small but special place for Santa to hear local children's wishes.

They submitted their plan to the LRCDC during our call for grant proposals. We were honored to award their grant, giving $18,750 toward the construction of Santa's new home. As is always the case with Lititz, the community also heard the call, and individuals and businesses banded together to bring this project home. Student artists from Warwick High School helped paint the interior. Local artist Jeff Pfeiffer created the handcrafted brass weathervane on the roof. A crew of caring neighbors came together to make it all happen.

Now, for the first time in 20 years, local children and visitors to Lititz have a place to visit Santa Claus. Shoppers have another reason to make Lititz their favorite destination.

It all came together because we came together.
It doesn't get more Lititz than that.
