March always feels like a reset button.

New month.
New week.
New momentum.

There’s something symbolic about this season — the shift from winter into spring. Growth doesn’t happen overnight. It happens quietly, beneath the surface, before anyone applauds it.

We talk about “luck” like it’s random.
But most four-leaf clovers are found by people who are actually looking.

Luck is:
• Preparation meeting opportunity
• Courage meeting timing
• Faith meeting action
• Discipline meeting consistency

This month, I’m choosing to look for the clover — in the stretch assignments, the uncomfortable conversations, the early mornings and the long game.

Fresh start energy isn’t about starting over.
It’s about starting forward. Progressing forward.

✨ One Year Ago Today… I Spoke Up. ✨

One year ago, I launched Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed into the world—not knowing how deeply it would resonate, how far it would go, or how boldly it would transform lives (including my own).

This book was born from a truth I had to live first:

🔹 That closed mouths stay overlooked.
🔹 And that confidence isn’t something you wait for—it’s something you build.

Since then, I’ve:

There’s Power in a Name.

My name is TianEn—from Chinese origin, meaning sky, heaven, kindness, favor, grace. My mother is half Chinese and Black, and when she named me and my twin sister, she did so with intention. She found our names in a dictionary, in a library in Hartford, Connecticut. (Remember the times when we had to go to libraries to find information?)

My sister’s name is TeQin, meaning special, particular, out of the ordinary.

And today, I realize—we are living our names.

We’re not just carrying legacy. We’re becoming it.
We are walking in grace, purpose, and bold individuality.
We are claiming space in rooms where our names are pronounced with care, and with power.

Names hold meaning. They carry culture, history, and vision. They are the first declarations of who we are meant to be.

So here’s to living your name with pride.
Here’s to honoring where you come from while boldly stepping into where you’re going.

Too often, we wait for permission. We wait for someone to validate our ideas, recognize our worth, or tell us we’re ready. But here’s the truth: the most important “YES” you will ever receive is the one you give yourself.

✅ Say YES to your goals, even when they feel out of reach.
✅ Say YES to new opportunities, even if they scare you.
✅ Say YES to your own growth, even when the path is uncertain.
✅Say YES, even when you have doubts and fears.
✅ Say YES to your potential and know you can do IT!

In Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed, I share that asking for what you want starts with believing you deserve it. That belief begins with YOU.

What Do You Do After the “No”? 🚪✨

Hearing “no” is inevitable. We don’t always get what we ask for the first time, and sometimes, rejection feels like a dead end. But here’s the truth I share in Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed:

“It is not the fact that we get a ‘no,’ but it is about what we do after the no.”

A “no” isn’t the end of the conversation—it’s a challenge to keep going. It’s an invitation to:
🔄 Reassess – Was it the right ask? The right timing? The right person?
📚 Learn – What insights can you gain from the rejection to improve your approach?
🚀 Pivot – Maybe the “no” is redirecting you to something even better.

Some of my biggest wins didn’t come from the first ask. They came because I followed up, reworked my approach, or knocked on a different door.

So, the next time you get a “no,” ask yourself—what’s next? Because success isn’t about avoiding rejection, it’s about how you move forward after it.

: Where My Love for Speaking Began 🎤✨

In 2011, during my senior year at the University of Colorado Boulder, I stood in front of a room full of my peers, mentors, and professors at our Diverse Scholars Program (DSP) end-of-year banquet, ready to give a speech. I remember the rush of excitement, the nervous energy, and the deep desire to leave an impression—not just words, but a moment people would remember.

That night, I realized something powerful: speaking isn’t just about delivering a message—it’s about creating impact. It’s about making people feel something, inspiring them to think differently, and giving them a story they’ll carry with them long after the moment has passed.

That speech ignited a passion in me that has never faded. Today, every time I step on stage, lead a workshop, or share my journey, I think back to that night—the spark that started it all.
