Teacher Goals:

1) Leave students with something on their mind.

2) Help them to think in new ways.

3) Explore phenomena and STEAM across various cultures to notice the “windows and mirrors”.

4) Keep students eager and excited to come back for more.

We need community for that and the synergy of the collective minds and experiences that keep us growing.

🚨 Blindspot detected: Isolation 🚨

I know you’re on a mission and you’re trying to keep your head down so that you can get the work done, but if you remain in isolation this blind spot will literally cause you to crash when it’s time to look up and switch lanes.

I see this all the time when I’m talking with other business leaders, especially women because we carry so many titles and wear so many hats that we’re literally just trying to stay in our lane.

Here’s the catch you will have to switch lanes at some point. You will have to pivot to get a different outcome. You will have to be able to look at things from a different vantage point to get the clearest and best result.

You need people to listen to your problems and the issues that are keeping you stuck at this particular point because often times those with that special eye like myself can see those blind spots from a mile away and know how to help you see them too.

Remember, you can’t fix what you can’t see.

"Leading adults isn't easy" they say...that's true if your priorities don't align with theirs.

Teachers don't have a lot of time so prioritizing what and how we teach is a key factor of increasing the confidence+competence of a student.

Instructional leaders, do your teacher teams understand how to chunk content that is on par with how the brain processes information? If they are not confident+competent in this area, then they will be spinning their wheels delivering what they believe is their best instruction but are missing monumental blindspots. If you're not prioritizing cognitive neuroscience and how the brain processes information, your leadership is not relevant nor productive to solving their most pressing problems and that's where distrust and low buy-in plays a major role in your leadership confidence and journey overall.

Now, students are confused, frustrated, or disengaged and the mark has not been met. This is how the gap of instructional equity is widened and students fall through the cracks.

This has to be understood from a leadership perspective and prioritized in how you lead professional learning and relationships. These are BLINDSPOTS that leaders miss out on...sometimes because you just don't know.

It's one thing to know the value you bring but articulating the transformation they will experience is PIVOTAL!
