In an effort to promote energy efficiency practices, The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas provide numerous educational resources to learn about basic building science and how to take charge of your utility bills without sacrificing comfort and conveniences. Look within this page to learn more about our recurring podcasts, monthly magazine column and our annual Energy Efficiency Makeover Contest.

Each year the winner of our contest receives a comprehensive energy efficiency makeover valued at up to $50,000. Sixteen runner-ups receive an energy efficient water heater. Educational mediums are made available throughout the project. Useful videos teach the basics of building science, explain why homes are uncomfortable and explain common-sense solutions without sacrificing comfort and convenience.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY - Rotary Club President Stephen Bell welcomed Mitch Ross, statewide manager of energy efficiency with the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC), as this week's guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Arkadelphia.
He provided tips on how to make your home more energy efficient. With the hot summer days already here, he offered ways to save on your energy bill.

170 Electric Cooperative Members Win LED Light Kits
Approximately 3,724 watts of energy reduction potential

Little Rock, Ark. — Aug. 4, 2017 — Approximately 15,000 entries were received in the 10th Annual Energy Efficiency Makeover Contest and 170 lucky electric cooperative members from the states’ 17 local electric distribution cooperatives are winners of LED lighting retrofit kits.

Winning members will receive 72 General Electric energy-efficient LED general purpose, recessed, outdoor flood and decorative candelabra bulbs. The energy savings potential when replacing older inefficient incandescent bulbs could result in a 3,724-watt reduction for their home. General Electric has partnered with the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas in eight of the past 10 contests.
