Real work happens behind the scenes not captured in a photo.

This season has been about becoming, and I am realizing more than ever that becoming requires you to filter your life in a very real way.

Who you give access to matters.
What you entertain matters.
What you allow to stay in your life matters.

It's not always easy to be honest about who or what no longer fits. There were invitations I had to look at differently. Conversations that did not feel aligned anymore. Spaces where I had to ask myself if I was truly growing or just staying comfortable.

Growth is not always about adding something new. A lot of times it is about refining what is already there and having the discipline to make different choices.

And it is a choice you have to keep making. Not just once, but over and over again.

Choosing who you are becoming over who you have been.
Choosing alignment over familiarity.
Choosing growth even when it feels uncomfortable.

If things feel different for you right now, if you have been pulling back, if you are becoming more selective, that does not mean something is wrong.

It may mean you are finally being intentional about your life.

That is part of elevation.

This version of me… I think I’ll keep her.

Spring always does something to me.

When I see all the beautiful plants bloom, it reminds me that everything doesn’t have to be forced. What’s already in you just need the right environment to grow.

I think that’s where a lot of us get off.

We start looking around and watching other people.
Tempted to try to grow into versions of life that were never meant for us.

And before you know it, you’re out here growing into something that looks good but doesn’t feel right.

That’s not growth. That’s confusion.

You were already planted with something specific.
It’s not happenstance how you think, move and show up the way YOU do.

Your job is to stop trying to switch it up every time you see something that looks better.

Your job is to stay rooted long enough to actually become.

Once when you’re aligned with what’s in you…everything changes.

This season, I’m not forcing anything.
I’m not chasing anything.

I’m letting what’s already in me come up the right way.

And this version of me?

Yes… I think I’ll keep her.

What They Said After My Session…

This is why I teach the CPPC framework.
Your appearance, behavior, and communication are either opening doors… or quietly closing them.

Are You Living Like a Bird… or an Airplane?

This morning, I remembered a teaching from the late Dr. Miles Munroe that explains a lot about why so many people feel stretched thin, frustrated or ready to tap out in their careers, relationships and everyday life.

He said, don’t attempt what you are not authorized to do.

Dr. Munroe used the example of a bird and an airplane.

A bird doesn’t struggle to fly. It doesn’t need fuel, systems, or constant maintenance to do what it was created to do. Everything it needs to fly was already built within it.

An airplane flies too but at a tremendoes cost. It depends on a massive amount of fuel, inspections, and maintenance to function. When something goes wrong, it will be a challenge for it to stay in the air long.

God’s design carries intention and limits. Although a bird can fly, it cannot fly to the moon.

When we move outside of what we were designed and assigned to do, life often becomes high maintenance.

We have to ask ourselves, am I feeling out of alignment because I’m somewhere or building something I was never authorized to do.

Walking in the calling and purpose for your life is the most freeing place you can be. When you are not in your authority, your life will feel weighty.

If something in your life feels constantly exhausting or stressful to maintain, it may be worth asking is this what God designed me for or am I carrying something that doesn’t belong to me?

Did you know that today is Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day?! Why? Because only about 9% of people actually follow through on them.

Before you populate those brand new planners with your to-do list, ask yourself a deeper question and that is “who am I BECOMING?”

Yesterday, on set of Good Morning Arkansas, we talked about a simple framework of questions I created called Becoming Filters.

This decision framework will help you pause and ask yourself questions that align your behavior and choices with the future version of yourself aka goals.

Most often time, we abandon our goals because we tend to tie them to a general outcomes vs our identity.

Instead of saying, “I want to lose weight.” Your becoming filter is “Will my future self thank me for this or have to recover from it?”

Your new goal is,” I’m becoming someone who treats their body like a long-term investment vs. a short term project or fad diet .”

As you recalibrate the goals you may have already abandoned-

Stop asking: “What do I want to do?”
Start asking: “Who am I becoming?”

When you become intentional about who you are becoming, your life stops being accidental, and starts being lived by design.

The five Becoming Filters I discussed in the video are:

1. Identity
2. Direction
3. Proximity
4. Representation
5. Discernment

You are not limited to these so create your own Becoming Statements and Filters today!
