🎙️ Episode 15 – Client Selection Strategy

Coming Thursday: Not every opportunity is the right one. I’ll walk through why alignment matters more than volume—and how the right clients drive long-term growth.

"It’s easy to overthink the starting point.

Wait until things are clearer.
Wait until you feel more ready.
Wait until the timing makes sense.

Most of the time, that just delays things.

You don’t have to be great to start.
But you do have to start to be great.

It’s a simple idea, but it plays out in a real way over time. One step leads to another… and eventually you look back and realize how much came from just beginning.

That’s really what this conversation touched on—the ripple effect of getting in motion.

This clip is from the Level Up Podcast with JR Lay.

🎙️ Episode 14 is LIVE!

“If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” – Jim Rohn

Progress doesn’t happen by accident.

It comes from tracking what matters.
Staying accountable.
Doing the work—consistently.

In this episode, I break down Jim Rohn’s principle of measurable progress, the weekly meeting discipline that sharpened my focus, and how one last-minute meeting with my son’s basketball coach reinforced the importance of following through.

Measurement creates clarity.
Clarity creates progress.

Wednesday Wisdom Issue #20: The Advantage of Composure

When leaders stay calm, teams perform better.

Decisions get clearer. Trust deepens.

Coach John Wooden believed composure was the difference between reacting and leading. His wisdom has guided me through high-stakes moments in business, coaching, and life.

This week’s Wednesday Wisdom explores how composure becomes a competitive advantage, and why true success starts with your own peace of mind.

A lot of businesses don’t stall because they run out of opportunity.
They stall because they hit a ceiling they weren’t built to break through.

Right around $5M, things start to feel… different.
What used to drive growth starts to create friction.
Margins tighten. Decisions get heavier.

The typical CEO instinct?
Push harder. Stay closer. Do more.
But that’s usually what keeps you stuck.

Because the next level doesn’t come from effort alone.
It comes from structure.
Better systems.
Stronger leadership around you.
A shift from being the driver of everything… to building something that runs without you at the center.

That’s where real scale begins.

Fix the Worn Carpet

Most owners are too close to their business to see its flaws. (We all are.)

You see the history, the effort behind every decision, and the reasons things are the way they are.

A buyer sees something else: what’s worn, what’s outdated, and what no longer fits.

That gap in perspective matters. Not just for your company, but for your growth as a leader.

Over time, you stop noticing certain things. Small inefficiencies. Habits that no longer serve you. Areas you’ve learned to work around instead of improve.

That’s where outside perspective becomes valuable.

Coaching helps you see what you’ve stopped noticing; the blind spots in your systems... and in yourself.

Conversations Matter More Than We Realize

It’s interesting to notice how much of what’s changed in life started with a conversation.
Sometimes a single conversation stays with you.
Something someone said.
A question they asked.
An idea you hadn’t considered before.
Over time, those conversations start to influence how you think.
How you see problems.
How you make decisions.
What you believe is possible
I’ve noticed that the people I spend time talking with tend to shape my perspective more than I realize in the moment.
Their experiences.
Their questions.
Their way of looking at things.
When I look back, a lot of important turning points in my life started with a conversation.
Not a big event.
Just a conversation.
It’s a good reminder for me to be thoughtful about the conversations I’m having… ..and the people I’m having them with.
