Interesting developments could be on the way! While it may disrupt our business model, this would be wonderful for the environment. =)

The new bill comes amid continued reports of the spread of microplastics and after restaurants stocked up on bags and containers for takeout during the pandemic.

Did you know plastic film can be recycled into many useful products? It can be used to make composite lumber for decks, benches, and playground sets. Plastic film can also be reprocessed into small pellets, which can be made into new bags, pallets, containers, crates, and pipe.

It's best to reduce our use of plastics, but when properly recycled we can use it in exciting and innovative ways!

Check out Kideaux Earth to be a part of the solution!

Not sure which plastics are recyclable and which aren't? First, look for a #2 or #4 printed on the label. If there's no label, do the tear test! If it tears wavy, it's recyclable (bread bags, newspaper bags, toilet paper/paper towel wrapping, produce bags, etc). If it tears straight, it's not (cereal and chip bags, etc). Cling wrap is not recyclable unfortunately either.

Please make sure there's no food, crumbs or residue left in any bags and cut off the sticker labels from mailers. Now your plastic is good to go! =)

Did you know that plastic grocery bags are only a small part of what we recycle? The plastic bag and film problem is so much more than just grocery bags! Check out the list on our website of the many types of #2 and #4 plastics we recycle.

While we of course collect and recycle plastic grocery and retail shopping bags, these bags are just a portion of the problem. For this reason, we also recycle a wide variety of other single use plastic bags and plastic film.
