In leu of a video this week, I wanted to draw attention to the risks associated with mid-week activities. It's common for places of worship to open their doors to bless those in need. It's one of the coolest ways the church can be the hands and feet of Jesus. But it also presents two problems. 1. It's common for people that show up to have untreated mental issues. This create unique challenges for staff who may not know how to respond to or de-escalate. At our church, these food banks are staffed by volunteers who are typcially retired and not equipped to deal with potentially violent or unstable people. 2. Since it's during the weekday, we may not have any security personel present, unlike weekend services.

Ultimately, the staff need to understand risks based on the church location, issues they may have had in the past and who typically shows up each week.
