US Geochemical

US Geochemical US Geochemical provides services to the oil and gas exploration and environmental communities.

US Geochemical strives to make what has been deemed unconventional, conventional and has developed methods that allow for true multivariate surveys of completely independent data sets. Therefore, each mapped variable does not simply represent a variation of all the variables analyzed. For instance, soil gas methods always have high correlation between homologs and yield few differences from one h

omolog to the next. US Geochemical’s hydrocarbon detection methods measure different aspects of the hydrocarbons in the near surface in order to develop a complete image of the seepage alteration associated with the reservoir at depth. The geochemical “toolbox” provided by US Geochemical is diverse in order to provide the most appropriate solution to any particular oil and gas exploration program. Not all methods work everywhere and each geochemical signature is as unique as the reservoir from which it is derived. Therefore, US Geochemical has tools available to determine which multi-parameter set is best suited for an area.

A comparison of fracture patterns from depth (top) and the surface (bottom). The top image is an image from a passive seismic survey that shows the fracture network at depth. The bottom image shows the fracture network at the surface. Note the similarities of patterns and trends on both images. Fracture networks such as these demonstrate the direct routes from the reservoir to the surface which, when coupled with seismic activity, allows hydrocarbons to migrate vertically.

I have been using some Neural Network software to aid the interpretation of the large amount of geochemical data generated during the soil sample analysis. The results, though varied, are encouraging. Two of the analog fields have yielded apical type anomalies using the UV-Vis Hydrocarbon data. A third analog exhibits a halo signature using the new hydrocarbon suite that includes soil gas.

A little more success with the new hydrocarbon flux method. There is good reproducibility with between replicate sample runs. The temperature and volumes are consistent. Correlation with other hydrocarbon methods is good.
