🤭 93 weeks ago (November 16, 2017) Lewis Howes commented on my Instagram post and I just noticed it this morning.
🤭 Everyone knows the key to social media success is to interact (respond to your comments!)
🙌 The thing is, though, if that wasn’t your initial reason for using a platform, who cares, it doesn’t matter. You’re allowed to be on the platforms without listening and responding. But you won’t grow as you expect.
⚡️ You’re not going to get shamed here ever about doing it “wrong”.
⚡️ We are all new here!
👉 But once you do decide and take the first steps toward using social media to grow your personal brand or brand awareness or a community around your project ...everything changes.
💡 We talk about it and hopefully my posts and the community that grows here will lend professional accountability toward doing the work involved.
The thing with social media is you literally get out what you put in. That’s why brands hire full time social media teams / agencies.
Social media is an engine & it’s not automatic.
Today, 93 weeks after someone commented on my post, I responded, unapologetically, just great big smiley faces. 😊😊😊😊😊😊👀
📝 I started my Instagram in 2016 intending to quietly upload photos and consume others content. The only reason I was there was to learn that platform.
📌 I followed thousands and read comment threads, analyzed image feeds / aesthetics, followed funnels and growth and watched how influencers worked to bring their followers deeper and deeper into into their community. Over to YouTube or to a blog or over to their merchandise site. I explored DM culture, Stories & collaborations. I studied Micro Influencers & Influencers with millions of followers. Looked deep into influencer brand deals, monetization strategies, meet ups and the life of a public figure. Familiarized myself with the app, swiping, tapping, sharing, creating collections, and the algorithm itself + SEO with hashtags.
📝 But I personally wasn’t trying to build or grow my own account. I wasn’t “creating” or contributing. I was absorbing & learning. I was able to understand what I was seeing.
🔑 That’s the key. When you are creating content and contributing you will attract an audience and grow.
There’s a LOT to know & learn. I’ve learned a lot in 2 years deep diving in 2 specific areas: YouTube & Instagram
🔎 There are real issues and real world ramifications with all social media.
😳 It can feel scary, especially with a personal brand.
😽 but I’ve worked out some systems to guide my own social media activities plus help others.
👉 As a social media enthusiast I lean on and prioritize community, PR, topic policies, communication design...content strategy, and of course the algorithm.
These are all disciplines I’ve been employed in throughout my professional career anyway. But for others. Brands, talent, etc
My lens is uniquely my own and I want to help others with my ideas and strategies.
Launching this page means a lot to me because it’s the chance to gather people around me who understand the power of social media and want to utilize it, and I’m so eager to help.
💡⭐️ For the next 90 days my own social media focus will be on branding / growing 3 Instagram accounts and this page (and possibly a group) and on YOU, and bringing you along.
👉 You’ll benefit from being here if you are the type who likes case studies, likes frameworks, likes & wants to be a free spirit, you want to be transparent & authentic, you want to be supported, you crave community, collaborations and creative freedom, and you want to become a public figure / influencer ❤️
📝 You also want to get started even if it’s one piece of content or post weekly, you’re ready to do it mindfully and consistently, confidently.
If you made it this far bravo. Feel free to comment, private message, invite your friends...like it if you like it, ask questions, this is your page.
If this all sounds good, welcome here!!! 😊✨
