This started to get comfortable enough to play! , like all mammals, have a nervous system that is constantly scanning the environment for safety or threat. Stephen Porges calls this neuroception. It happens below conscious awareness. When an animal (or person) detects safety, the ventral vagal state activates and that’s where and social bonding live.
