Hi everyone. It’s been a long while since the wife and I have had a chance to post here. I have been crazy busy with a ton of projects, and I’ll post some pics of those soon - too many to count. 😅 But I wanted to share another project I am doing…this one is my own. Last August, Jess and I bought a bus. It is a mind-blowing story, and you should follow the journey on our music page: I Am Feroxx where a majority of the bus updates will be. (IG: ) 🚎

Over the last 3 years and 7 months, Jess and I have gotten sober together, quit smoking ci******es together, produced music together, recorded over 30 songs together and built out her brand together (Feroxx). Then we bought a bus together. 🤷🏼‍♂️ For three and a half years we have saved the money that would have otherwise been spent on alcohol and ci******es...and we bought our bus, Leo, with that cash. You wouldn’t believe the stories if I told you, but let’s just say when we first bought it, we found out a few days later that it was a stolen bus. 😳

I’ll be spending the summer custom building and fully renovating her - taking our life and music on the road. So far, I’ve got just over 100 hours into her with demo. As you can see, I’ve nearly got it fully stripped. Next comes framing. (Pics in comments to show what she looked like inside before I started demo). 👀

When I started Surface Matters over 6 years ago, I had no idea that the skills I would learn along the way would actually be equipping me to build this bus. Every project - hundreds of them at this point - has prepared me for this one. Grateful is an understatement…for both the work I do and the clients who hire me to do it. Time to finally do a project of my own. 😏

Behind on posting - is anyone shocked? Life has been so busy between producing music with my wife, buying a bus that we are getting ready to renovate and turn into home, dad life, and a never ending to do list…but I’m grateful and I’m here. I’ll be posting the completion of some recent projects soon…for today I’m loving this fun tile. Simple things, I guess. 🙂

Rome wasn’t built in a day…and neither was this stacked stone fireplace with tiled wall accents. 😜 Love the way this came out and super honored to have had this project turn into several more, as she referred me out to her friends in this beautiful neighborhood. Word of mouth referral is the highest compliment a client can give me. Grateful for all my clients (and their friends)! 😁

I have so many completed projects to share, and I’m not even sure I’ll be able to post them all before the close of 2021…but I’m currently working on this stacked fireplace and really wanted to pause to share the view from my office today. Isn’t this crazy beautiful?! 🤩

Remember this one? Back in August, I had posted this kitchen renovation in progress. Here are the final pics. Talk about a billion crazy angles. 👀 I’ve been done with this project for several weeks now, but, as promised, I am playing catch up on posting all of my projects over the last three months. Scroll back to my post on August 4 to see it in progress, OR!!, I’ve also included the before pics here. Pics 1-7 are the final result. LOVE how this mountain home kitchen turned out. Cozy, quaint, rustic and sophisticated. Honored to have been hired to do this one! 🏔 🏠

Wow. Three months since last post. 😱 I really do need to get better about it. Life has been crazy over the last few months including a bus renovation I’ve taken on. 🚎 So I figured I should probably start uploading pics of the projects I’ve completed over the last few months (including the final pics to the last post 😅). Anyhow! Here’s a backsplash I just completed. Started w the after pics; scroll through to see before’s. Also did their master bath and will share those pics soon (sooner than 3 months), lol. As with most of my projects, this was a client referral - thank you Molly O'Brien and Jesse!

Hey guys! Going to do a few photo dumps over the next couple days showing some projects I’ve been working on. It has been BUSY, and I’m grateful for that. Like most people, lots going on and it’s been hard to stay on top of posting. 😬 Anyhow - here’s a large format tile backsplash in the gorgeous Evergreen. 🌲 First pic is before grout; rest of the pics are before and in progress.

So…I start a new huge remodel job today. (Pics of the last project I completed coming). And I get to do it with this thing!! 🤩 I’ve waited for 5 years for this tool. I’ve always had what I need to get the job done…but this upgrade is a game changer. After my third tub saw recently broke, I really wasn’t sure what I was going to do. But my wife was recently awarded some money and decided to gift me with this bad boy. She calls it ‘Shane Sized’ 😂 Can’t wait to break in my new RIDGID Tools 10 inch Wet Tile Saw! 🤘🏼🪚🧱

Here it is!! Drastic is an understatement. 😅 These are some after pics of the hallway bath I just completed. This was probably one of the top 5 challenging projects I’ve done in the 6 years I’ve been doing this work...but also one of the top 5 most gratifying when it was finally completed. Client is happy, I’m happy. 😁
