Nonprofit nerd turned IPA. 🎓

20 weeks. 12 in-depth modules. Certified Impact Philanthropy Advisor, through Daylight. I've done the work so you don't have to figure out philanthropy alone.

Here's what that means for the families, nonprofits, and wealth advisors I work with:
- Sharper DAF strategy: how to structure gifts, time them, and maximize the tax benefit.
- Stronger nonprofit vetting: evaluating organizations with both rigor and intention.
- Deeper gift planning knowledge: complex assets, legacy giving, charitable vehicles beyond the checkbook.
- More culturally informed advising: meeting clients where they actually are.

Philanthropic advising is no longer a "nice add-on." Families want intentional and personalized strategies. Nonprofits need to understand DAFs to stop losing out on gifts. And wealth advisors need partners who bring rigor to the philanthropic side.

That gap is exactly why I built Epic Philanthropy.

If you're ready to move from reactive giving to intentional philanthropy, I'd love to connect. Send me a DM. Link in bio! đź”—

What does $1,000 actually do for a Denver family trying to break the cycle of poverty?

That's exactly what this week's "If I Had $1,000" spotlight answers.

CrossPurpose isn't new to this. Since 2014, they have addressed the economic, relational, and spiritual barriers to opportunity. The track record: 1,744 grads and over 5,100 careers launched.

Here's how your $1,000 can change lives:

· The Opportunity & Access Scholarship Fund: Ensuring every "Leader" can pursue a stable career 100% tuition-free.
· Family Gatherings: Sponsoring an evening of shared meals and support groups: because real change happens in community, not just a classroom.
· Weekly Stipends: Removing the "life happens" barriers: childcare and transportation: that usually derail graduation.

The best part? Every gift is matched 1:1 through September 15. Your $1,000 becomes $2,000!

Can we officially retire the phrase “giving back”?

It always sounds like you took something that wasn’t yours and now you’re being asked to return it. It makes philanthropy feel like a debt or a late fee.

Let’s try “investing forward” instead.

When you invest forward, you aren’t reacting to guilt or a generic sense of duty. You’re looking at your capital, your time, your talent, and your treasure, as a tool to build the future you actually want to see. It’s proactive. It’s strategic. And honestly, it’s a lot more joyful.

Stop treating your generosity like a repayment plan. Let’s build a strategy that looks ahead.

Send me a DM if you're ready to flip the script.

The 2026 TIME100 Philanthropy list just released, and it's full of t ech billionaires. But, in my opinion, the unexpected standout honoree is Willie Nelson. WILLIE. NELSON! At 93, he made the list for anchoring Farm Aid for 40 years, which has raised $90 million for independent farmers.

The criteria TIME used exposes exactly what traditional philanthropy gets wrong. They rewarded speed, low-barrier giving, and grassroots models. Basically, who moves money fast during a crisis without choking nonprofits in red tape.

Most elite donors have an impact aversion. They take huge risks in business but get terrified when giving, instead, burying money in foundations while the front lines starve. Willie does the opposite:

• He bypasses the expert fallacy.
• He builds peer networks to expand the message.
• He trusts the people on the ground to do the work.

If your giving strategy requires a ton of paperwork before a $ leaves the bank, you're funding bureaucracy, not impact. Let's stop building institutions and start building movements that actually fix things.

Fun fact: I sold Girl Scout cookies to Willie when I was a little girl.

Stop treating your donations like a bad blind date arranged by your neighbor.

You know the feeling. You write a check because someone you like asked you to support their cause, even if you know nothing about it. It is awkward and it lacks any real spark. Most people give because of proximity or obligation because they don't have a strategy.

I want your giving to feel like a real partnership. Think of it as finding your impact soulmate. When you align your purpose with an organization that does the work you actually care about, the friction disappears. You move from writing reactive checks to building a strategic relationship.

I spend my days doing the due diligence and deep research that most donors do not have time for. I bridge the gap between your wealth and the actual change happening on the ground. Let’s find the organization that makes you excited to be generous.

Most people think a tax ID (EIN) is a green light for giving. It isn't. It’s just the legal floor because legal status does not guarantee that your vision will be executed effectively.

True philanthropy isn't just about checking a box or getting a tax deduction so that you can move forward. It’s about ensuring your generosity actually does what you intended while protecting your family legacy. Too often, donors assume that if a 501(c)(3) exists, their gift is safe. However, leadership shifts and operational gaps create impact friction every day.

Checking an EIN tells you an organization is legal. Forensic due diligence tells you it’s effective.

If you’re serious about your legacy:
-> Move beyond the 'legal floor' to audit for alignment.
-> Shift from random acts of kindness to a strategic impact journey.

Don't leave the most personal part of your wealth to chance. Your intentions deserve better than a tax ID. Send me a DM to begin your impact audit.

"Because we didn't focus on gender, we were basically missing half the equation."

I had the incredible opportunity to listen to my hero, Melinda French Gates, accept an award from the University of Denver’s Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs last night.

She shared a story from the Gates Foundation. Dashboards showed contraceptive supply chains were fully stocked, but when she bypassed the spreadsheets to speak with the women, she found a massive disconnect. The only items stocked were condoms. In those communities, asking for a condom was culturally impossible. The inventory checked out on paper, but practically, the women had zero access to the care they needed.

The flat data told a comforting lie and the actual impact was zero.

Melinda realized you cannot solve macro problems without investing in women and girls. When a woman steps into her power, the downstream economic effects transform entire communities.

We have to look at the numbers. Women-led teams receive roughly 2% of VC funding. For Black women founders, that number is 0.34%.

Stop gifting wine to clients who are looking for a legacy. Your HNW families don’t need another bottle on the shelf; they need a Master Giving Strategy that bridges the gap to the next generation. This isn't just a gift: it's a tool to protect your AUM by engaging heirs long before the wealth actually transfers.

A Master Giving Strategy is a win for your firm for several reasons:
- You stay in the inner circle by being CC’d on all strategy deliverables.
- You build trust with the next generation in a meaningful, non-financial context.
- You position yourself as a legacy partner rather than just a money manager.

Forget the fruit basket and secure the legacy instead. DM for 3-Pack details.

Is your giving reactive or intentional?

Most donors have a huge heart but a "reactive" checkbook. You wait for the gala, the year-end appeal, or the friend’s fundraiser. It’s generous, but is it moving the needle on the causes you actually care about?

At Epic Philanthropy, we help you shift from "someday" impact to a proactive strategy using our EPIC Journey framework. Here is how we turn your good intentions into a lasting legacy:

1. EMPOWER -> We simplify the logistics. Whether it’s maximizing your DAF or vetting a nonprofit, we handle the friction so you can focus on the joy.

2. PURPOSE -> We go deep. What are your values? What kind of world do you want for your grandkids? We define the "Why" before we pick the "Who."

3. IMPACT -> This is where the research happens. We conduct deep due diligence to ensure your dollars are solving problems, not just treating symptoms.

4. CHANGE -> This is the result. A strategic, joyful giving plan that creates a ripple effect for generations.

Don’t just give. Give with purpose.
