What Is a Birthday?
As I grow older, I see birthdays differently.
A birthday is not just cake, candles, or gifts. It is a celebration of life — the very beginning of your story. It is the one day in the entire world that belongs completely to you. No one can take that from you.
It doesn’t matter whether the celebration is big or small. Some people spend thousands on parties. Others buy a simple cake, a few cupcakes, or light one candle at home. But the size of the celebration does not measure its meaning.
What truly matters is who stands beside you.
The people who love you.
The people who see you.
The people who treasure you and encourage you to become a better version of yourself.
A birthday is not about being born rich or poor. It is not about status or appearance. It is about recognizing that you are here — that your life has value — and that your presence matters.
And this year, it feels even more meaningful.
To my beautiful, beloved daughter who is becoming a teenager — this is more than just another birthday. This is the beginning of a new chapter. A season of growth, discovery, courage, and finding your voice.
No matter how big or small the celebration is, what matters most is this:
You are loved deeply.
You are treasured beyond words.
You are seen.
Your birthday is a celebration of you — not because of what you have, not because of what you achieve — but simply because you were born, and our lives are brighter because of it.
Happy Birthday, my sweet girl. Watching you grow is one of the greatest joys of my life.
