Who We Are

Bearing Service distributes bearings, power transmission products and related accessories to industrial customers throughout Michigan. Established in Detroit in 1943 by Herbert Mann, a veteran of the bearing industry, Bearing Service later expanded to other locations under the stewardship of Mr. He opened a branch in Warren and later moved into a new main warehouse facility in Livonia

as business opportunities in the suburbs increased. Savage’s son, Doug Savage, took control of Bearing Service in 1978, following his father’s death. He guided the company through a period of aggressive growth that saw Bearing Service open more branches and expand its core product line to include power transmission products. Today, Bearing Service successfully operates branches in Brownstown, Kalamazoo, Livonia, and Warren. Our corporate office / central distribution center is also located in Livonia. Our growth over the years is testament to Bearing Service’s unfaltering commitment to customer service excellence. On May 19 at our Livonia, Mich. office, we hosted a free Buyers Training Class for those in management roles in purchasing or maintenance.

Our Buyers Training Class helps attendees better understand how to order bearings and power transmission products, including a basic understanding of terminology and nomenclature, as well as some tips to keep maintenance staff happy.

At the end of the training, attendees will have tools and strategies to help them reduce the number of PO's needed to order parts.

Course Objectives:

➡️ Discover fundamentals of bearing and power transmission products
➡️ Identify various styles of ball and roller bearings

We all gathered for a great meal and held our annual company meeting at Walnut Creek Country Club on March 11th. We reviewed our 2025 results, shared plans for 2026, and recognized the outstanding achievements by all departments. The highlight, as always, was the announcing of our Outstanding Service Award winners.

Our Outstanding Service Award winner for 2025 went to Nate Curren, Branch Manager for our Brownstown, Mich. location.

Nate has been instrumental in the rapid growth of our Brownstown, Mich. location. As Branch Manager, he has solidified relationships with customers and worked well with our proactive sales team, achieving double digit growth.

He has taken initiatives to greatly improve branch operations. Nate has also been an integral part of promoting, implementing, and managing our inventory management solution called Shelf Aware, which is in place at numerous facilities in Michigan and Indiana.

Honorable mentions for the award include Natasha Leonard and Marc Sowa.

Natasha is one of our top order processors, handling more than $4 million in sales in 2025. She has been instrumental in assisting with team corporate accounts and providing training to new members. She has gone outside of her normal sales duties in volunteering to help Bearing Service test several new technologies to make us more efficient with our customers and has done work on our open order reporting to help us ensure our customers receive their product on time.

Marc has taken on a new role in Operation Support and has been instrumental in improving operations at all four Bearing Service locations. He has been a tremendous asset to Bearing Service in both our recent moves, including from our Warren, Mich. location to Sterling Heights, Mich. and our more recent consolidation of our two Livonia, Mich. locations into our facility at 12320 Globe Street. Marc's tremendous problem solving abilities has had a profound impact on all locations in shoring up operational efficiencies.
