Here is an excellent example of adaptive re-use in Columbus, Ohio. Restoring much of the original structure of the 120-year-old building, formerly home to City Forge & Iron Works and once owned by Andrew Plocher, the site is now home to Brackett Builders. Werthan Package Inc., a locally owned family business since the 1860's and mass producer of packaging products, once occupied the building that is now Taylor Place. Taylor Place fosters strong connections between its tenants and its neighbors, as a place where people gather, work together, create, and celebrate: continuing to re-knit the urban fabric of the surrounding neighborhood and create a lasting place within. While this may not be a 'new' project, the story of Taylor Place, a mixed-use development located in historic Germantown, Tennesee, is the type of project that makes more sense every day in every locale.
