A post about grief, and how I let it flow through me as an artist these past 3 years
🪽Tonight I was thinking about my grandmother, & how her passing in 2023 led me to experiment & explore extreme 3D detailing in my work using ALL components (paint, wire, solder, misc/crystals) as shown in my mirror goddess piece. Also doing portraits of her helped me grow in making all future portraits
🪽In 2024, my grandfather passed and the grief flowed through me in a way that I went head first into my biggest framed/solo piece, Mr. Grimm. Which was followed by the one ever, encased bottle of Crown (my grandpas), that was gifted to my dad.
🪽Last year in 2025 I lost my dog, & THAT grief was different. It flowed through me & out into shards of glass that I pieced together into a mosaic. A glass medium I rarely do. That, was then followed by my first ever lamp, something I’d always dreamed of making.
🪽Fast forward to this year 2026, another kind of grief. A breakup of 5 years but this one felt more like a transformative grief than a heavy sadness or loss, which flowed & bloomed into the legendary nature lamp that we’re all obsessed with!
Basically some of the best artwork I’ve ever made has been fueled by this emotion, as SO MANY other artists have experienced.
& there’s something so weird & also a little magical.. about how this feeling of grief can somehow.. create its counterpart.. THROUGH me ?? You know?
Artist = Alchemist 🪄💫
Okay that’s enough now, but all I’m saying is if you see me making history with a new art piece….. well, yeah, you get it. 😭😂❤️🩹
