Grandpa Jones founded Humbolt Instrument more than 60 years ago in Northern California. Innovative, consistent, quality workmanship was always at the heart of what he did. At the age of 14 Evan began ru
nning machines in his father’s shop, Humbolt Machine NW, in Beaverton Oregon. Later, Evan studied at Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College to fine-tune his already extensive experience. By the time Evan was in his early twenties, his sights were set on owning his own machine shop. With a small shop and a hand-full of employees, Evan started with just one customer. Ever since then, business here at 3rd Gen Machine has only gotten better. Various prestigious clients have been added to the list along with a new facility and updated equipment. The times and places have changed, but here at 3rd Gen Machine, our dedication to delivering innovative, consistent, quality workmanship hasn’t! Drawing from the Utah State University student body, 3rd Gen Machine employs bright young engineers, mechanics, programmers, and other professionals in training. Evan states, “I like to take on new employees who are very much involved in the learning environment.” As employees learn the processes and procedures of world-class production milling, their imagination and skill-sets are utilized and benefited from.
