Some opportunities add a line to your résumé. Others expand your vision, strengthen your leadership, and open doors for everyone connected to your work.

This pass week I was honored and deeply grateful to have been selected to participate in the first Coca-Cola Mentor-Protégé Program in partnership with the Gwinnett Chamber Foundation Small Business Impact Institute.

Over three immersive days, we explored the building blocks of sustainable business growth, from financial management, HR best practices and employee retention to community engagement, standard operating procedures and procurement.

But this experience went far beyond information.

It created space for honest conversations, practical application and exercises that challenged us to examine how we lead, operate and scale our businesses. It confirmed what I teach and passionately help others with, that sustainable growth requires more than ambition. It requires strong systems, sound financial foundations, intentional leadership and a culture where people genuinely want to contribute and grow.

One impactful moment was seeing corporate culture in action through Coca-Cola UNITED’s commitment to workforce development and hands-on community service. In their community efforts they helped a young woman experiencing homelessness find a new path and now she is part of the Coca Cola team. We got to share a meal with her and hear her touching story. It was a reminder that leadership isn’t just strategy and systems; it’s also about people, dignity, and second chances.

This experience adds tremendous value to my professional journey, but that value does not stop with me.

Every lesson I gain strengthens what I can offer the people and businesses that trust me. It allows me to bring greater insight, stronger strategies and more practical tools into every collaboration. As I grow, I become better equipped to help others build, lead and move toward opportunities that may have once felt beyond their reach.

I am not simply walking through an open door. I am learning how to hold that door open for others.

Hoy puedo hablar, enseñar y liderar en dos idiomas.

Pero hubo un tiempo en el que no sabía cómo comunicarme en inglés. A los 16 años Estaba en un país nuevo para mí, tratando de entender a otros y de hacerme entender.

Y estos dos diccionarios se convirtieron en mis compañeros fieles.

El más pequeño iba conmigo siempre en el tren de Nueva York. Lo abría para buscar palabras, aprender significados y descubrir poco a poco cómo desenvolverme en una realidad incierta y completamente nueva.

Están desgastados, marcados y llenos de señales del paso del tiempo. Para otros pueden parecer solamente dos libros viejos. Para mí, representan mis comienzos.

No fueron las únicas herramientas que me formaron, pero sí fueron parte importante de mi proceso. Me acompañaron cuando todavía no tenía las palabras, pero sí tenía la determinación de aprender.

Hoy los miro y recuerdo a aquella joven que no tenía todas las respuestas, pero que decidió usar lo que tenía en sus manos para seguir avanzando.

A veces queremos olvidar nuestros comienzos porque parecen demasiado pequeños comparados con el lugar al que hemos llegado. Pero no debemos avergonzarnos de las herramientas sencillas que nos sostuvieron mientras crecíamos.

Nuestros comienzos nos recuerdan cuánto hemos aprendido, cuánto hemos superado y de dónde Dios nos ha levantado.

Nunca desestimes lo que hoy parece pequeño. Tal vez esa herramienta sencilla que tienes en tus manos está ayudando a formar a la persona en la que te estás convirtiendo.

Estos diccionarios son parte de mi historia, de mi realidad y de mi testimonio.

Some of the most meaningful moments in leadership happen behind the scenes, when you have the privilege of helping others step into the spotlight. ✨

For the past five years, I’ve had the honor and joy of serving alongside the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce helping coordinate the 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia celebration and this year leading an extraordinary team of ambassadors.

Each year, one of my favorite moments is being backstage, greeting honorees, shaking their hands, and congratulating them just moments before they receive their well-deserved recognition.

🏆 To all 2026 honorees: CONGRATULATIONS!

Your leadership, resilience, and contributions continue to strengthen our communities and inspire future generations.

This celebration is possible thanks to the vision of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, its leadership, sponsors, staff, and the tireless work of so many people behind the scenes. I’m deeply grateful to be part of such a meaningful mission.

This year also reminded me of a core leadership truth: When we create space for people to share their ideas, teams grow stronger.

I’m grateful for the exceptional leadership and incredible talent within the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce team. One team member’s innovative solution helped streamline our registration process, allowing our staff and ambassadors to serve with greater clarity, efficiency, and confidence.

That is leadership in action, and it’s the kind of leadership I believe in, practice, and teach.

So today I also want to celebrate

💛 Five years of GHCC service.
🤝 Countless meaningful connections.
🌟 A continued commitment to leading with purpose.

What a great way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

Today I had the opportunity to lead “Lead From Where You Are” with the HACEMOS AT&T community, and what a great experience!

Thank you HACEMOS CEO Alex Barreto and COO Dawn Cordero for the invitation and, more importantly, for the work you continue to do to create opportunities for people to connect, grow, lead and make an impact.

And to everyone who joined us today, THANK YOU! I loved your participation, your comments in the chat and the energy you brought into our virtual room.

One of my favorite reminders from today:

Your story matters.

Where you come from, what you’ve experienced, what you’ve overcome and what you’ve learned along the way have developed something in you that can add value to someone else.

That is leadership capital.

So no matter where in the world you come from, remember:

Keep growing.

But not every answer comes from doing more.

Sometimes you need to get quiet enough to hear what all the noise has been drowning out.

Today, I’m reminding myself:
Look up. Trust God. Then take the next right step.

One step at a time.

Twenty-five years ago, I was among a group of people who experienced something that even today is difficult for me to put into words.

On 9/11, many of us were impacted in a way that felt completely surreal. I remember feeling like my soul was gone. The pain in our minds and in our hearts was unbearable. There was a cloud of desperation, pain and agony everywhere. It was so heavy that at times I felt like I could barely breathe. We were desperately trying to cross the bridge, trying to escape the next explosion we were warned about and to be honest all I had was my faith that I was gonna make it out alright. No cell phone available, the street phones were out of reach due to the unending lines of people desperately waiting to speak to someone and let them know they were alright, there was crying everywhere, I remember barely being able to walk, my feet hurt so bad that I had to take my shoes off and walk barefoot blocks and blocks to make out of the city, we just wanted to get out!

New York was hurting. Everyone was hurting.

It felt like we were living in a terror movie, except this was real life. And even 25 years later, there are moments when I still can’t believe it actually happened.

But I will always remember.

And maybe after all these years, it is time for me to admit to myself that this will always be a part of me. I don’t want to forget it. I want to remember.

I want to remember the people we lost, the families whose lives changed forever, and those who survived but have carried the pain and the memories with them all these years.

Today I pray for those who still suffer, still cry, still hurt, and still have to find the strength to wake up every morning and keep going.

I know our God heals the brokenhearted, and my prayer today is that He continues to heal and comfort every person who still carries the pain of what happened that day.

25 years later, I remember.

And I will never forget. 🇺🇸

Hay momentos en los que liderarte a ti mismo significa reconocer que necesitas salir.

Salir de la rutina.
Salir del ruido.
Salir de las mismas cuatro paredes.
Cambiar de ambiente para darle espacio a tu mente para pensar diferente.

No se trata de escapar de tus responsabilidades.

Se trata de crear intencionalmente el espacio que necesitas para escuchar, pensar, recuperar claridad y volver con una perspectiva diferente.

Porque el autoliderazgo no es solamente disciplina y ejecución.

También es saber cuándo detenerte, cuándo cambiar de ambiente y cuándo hacerte las preguntas que has estado evitando.

Así que hoy quiero dejarte un reto:

Sal.

No necesitas hacer algo extraordinario.

Da una caminata. Siéntate en un parque. Busca un lugar tranquilo. Deja el teléfono por unos minutos.

Y hazte estas tres preguntas:

¿Dónde me siento estancado en este momento?
¿Qué necesito ver de una manera diferente?
¿Cuál es mi próximo paso correcto?

Después, haz algo con la respuesta.

Porque pensar sin actuar también puede convertirse en otra forma de estancamiento.

La claridad importa. Pero la claridad que transforma es la que termina convirtiéndose en acción.

Eso también es Liderar con Propósito.
