Teaching the next generation is where the work continues.

This week our Founder and CEO, Tameka Peoples, is speaking at Parsons School of Design, engaging with students of the Community Supported Textiles course during NY Climate Week.

Community supported textiles is the future we are building at Seed2Shirt, fields and fiber connected, farmers and makers in symbiotic relationship, value shared across the whole chain. Being in the room with students who are choosing this path is how that future takes root.

Fashion is the field. Material is the land’s expression. On the farm and on the runway, we have to have both conversations.

Between New York Fashion Week and New York Climate Week we are moving through the city having the touch, honest conversations the ones about what real solutions actually look like. And of course, some of those belong out on the landscapes that grow it all.

So thank you to New York Textile Lab for inviting us into the discussion on the collective community action in fiber systems. This year we are joining them at Faraway Farm Alpacas for New York Fibershed Carbon Farm Tour, part conversation, part farm tour.

We are looking forward to getting into the two things at the heart of this work: the collective action it takes to build resilient, regenerative communal farming communities through out BLACKollective, and the critical connection between agriculture production, supply chain development, and equitable economic growth.
