Spear Vineyards & Winery Spear Vineyards & Winery is an organically farmed family estate wine producer located in the Santa Rita Hills specializing in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Spear Vineyards is located in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Established in 2001, the Sta. Rita Hills appellation is uniquely oriented east to west availing itself entirely to the nearby Pacific Ocean. Strong maritime influences of wind and fog coupled by largely ocean derivative soils result in an extremely long and cool growing season. Such conditions prove ideal to transparently steward wines which transmit our estate vineyard voice with the utmost lucidity and sincerity.

Veraison is upon us!! These photos are of Pinot Noir in our Spear Vineyards Block 13 at the very top of the Santa Rita Hills. In viticulture, veraison is the onset of the ripening of the grapes. The official definition of veraison is "change of color of the grape berries". Veraison represents the transition from berry growth to berry ripening.
