Last Night’s SmackDown ✨ + A Social Media Playbook
Last night, I went to a WWE SmackDown event, and besides the high-flying action, one thing stood out to me—how brilliantly they structured their in-event content!
Between each match, they used the screens to captivate the audience in a way that mirrors the 3-2-1 content strategy I teach my clients.
Here’s how it works (and how WWE nailed it):
3️⃣ Pieces of Thought Leadership content—WWE showcased its industry expertise with features and insights and highlighting matches. On social media, this could mean sharing valuable knowledge that positions your brand as a go-to expert in your field. It's the what you do posts.
2️⃣ Pieces of organization-driven content—They aired interviews, behind-the-scenes snippets, and short documentaries. This built trust and connection, showing their audience the people and values behind the brand. You can use this approach to humanize your organization and strengthen relationships.
1️⃣ Deep individual story—Finally, they spotlighted specific wrestlers, giving us their origin stories and tying us emotionally to their journeys. On social, it’s about highlighting individuals—whether it’s a team member, client, or customer story—to add depth and relatability to your brand.
WWE cycled through this plan seamlessly, even wrapping it up with an ad for their next event. It was a masterclass in keeping the audience engaged and invested.
If your brand wants to develop a winning 3-2-1 content strategy that generates raving fans, let's talk! Together, we can create a roadmap that makes your audience cheer louder than the SmackDown crowd 🏟️💥.
