Does your CEO resemble "The Devil Wears Prada"?

More company leaders are running things with that same hard edge — caring less about how their people feel and more about results, profit margins, and "performance cultures."

So we hold on tighter. In fact, 57% of workers now call themselves "job huggers," up from 45% a year ago — staying put out of fear, not love. (ResumeBuilder, Feb 2026)

Quick exercise. Don’t scroll past this one.
Imagine your boss calls tomorrow and offers you the same role, same salary, forever. No layoff risk. No promotion either. Just this, for the next 20 years.
Would you take it?
If yes — you’re in the right place. Stay. Build there.
If your stomach dropped reading that — you already have your answer. The job isn’t the prize. It’s the holding pattern.
Most people already know. They just haven’t said it out loud yet.
Honest answers only — yes or stomach drop? Tell me below. 👇

Be honest: has work quietly become your main source of connection?

For many of us, the office was never just about the job. It's where we found mentors, work friends, even work spouses — people who got us through hard days.

But connection at work is fraying. In a 2026 workplace study, 1 in 7 employees took time off in the past year due to loneliness or isolation — rising to 1 in 5 among Gen Z. (Workday Human Connection Workplace Index, 2026)

There's another way: building something that's yours, designed around the Income and Lifestyle you actually want. I am your guide to designing work around your life — not the other way around.

True story — at 36, I was a few clicks away from applying to grad school for a psychology degree.

I’d managed teams of 500 in corporate America. The part I loved most was the coaching. So a degree felt like the obvious next step.

Then I sat with a Career Ownership Coach myself — and twenty minutes in, I realized the career I was about to borrow $80K to retrain for already existed as a business model.

Sometimes the answer isn’t another degree. It’s a different lens.

Have you ever stopped yourself one click away from a big decision? What did you do instead? 👇

I’m going to say something that’ll probably bother people, but it needs saying.

A 401(k) you can’t touch for 30 years — with penalties if you do, and a vesting cliff if you leave — isn’t wealth. It’s a hostage situation with a tax form attached.

Wealth is something you can actually use. Equity you can sell. A business you can exit. An asset you can borrow against. Something with your name on the deed.

Everything else is a promise — and promises get rewritten.

How do you personally define “wealth” versus “retirement savings”? Genuinely curious. DM me! Let's talk! https://bit.ly/4aLV8YI

When was the last time your paycheck made YOU feel in control?For a lot of people, the honest answer is "not lately." Jobs are getting tougher, AI is swallowing routine work, and layoffs hover in the background. In fact, only 18% of employees say they stay in their roles because they truly want to. The rest? Mostly fear and necessity. (MetLife, 2026)A paycheck puts someone else in charge of your income, your schedule, and your future. Career Ownership flips that. It's about building something that's yours — and setting real goals for your Income and Lifestyle, instead of waiting for a raise that may never come.Get back in Control. Sit down with me and let’s talk — no cost, no pressure, just clarity. {%Contact}

What if your best work isn't behind you — even if everyone keeps acting like it should be?

64% of workers age 50-plus have seen or experienced age discrimination on the job. (AARP Research, January 2026)

So you "job-hug." You keep your head down. You hope AI doesn't learn your role next.

There's another way. Nearly 1 in 4 new entrepreneurs in the U.S. is now between 55 and 64 — and 88% say they started by choice, not necessity. (Kauffman Foundation)

Quits are at decade lows. AI is hollowing out middle management. And nobody wants to talk about what’s really coming.

It’s not a hiring boom. It’s a permanent split.
On one side: people waiting for the system to thaw. Waiting to be rediscovered. Waiting for normal.
On the other: people who looked at the data, made peace with it, and started building outside the system.
In five years, those two groups won’t recognize each other’s careers.
Which side do you think you’re on right now? Honest answers only. 💬

Do you know the secret fears we hide at work?

Nearly 40% of U.S. workers report feeling lonely at work (Reward Gateway, 2025). And 64% of workers 50+ have experienced age discrimination (AARP, 2026).

Dr. Mike, on The Career Compass Podcast, shares a powerful Carl Rogers quote—“that which is most personal is most universal”—to remind you that your private fears and career struggles are exactly what connect you to others, not what isolates you.

Stop squashing your story. Your experience isn't a liability. It's the bridge to what's next. A Career Ownership Coach® helps you turn that personal pain into a powerful plan.

Career Ownership Coaching™ starts with one brave conversation. You're not on an island. What's the career fear you've never said out loud? You might be surprised how I can relate.

Confession time — when I first started coaching, the “advice” I got from more experienced coaches was this: don’t even pull a woman’s resume. Wait for the husband to call.

That advice was wrong then. It’s embarrassing now.
The women I coach today out-research, out-execute, and out-commit every other demographic in my pipeline. They show up with spreadsheets and a plan, and they don’t flinch when month four gets hard.
They’re not waiting for the ceiling to break. They’re walking out the door.
To the women reading this — when did you stop asking permission? I’d love to hear it. 💬
