Today’s the Day! The Common is officially open! We are here to help with your application, essay and the entire admissions process.

Some schools have rolling admissions, so applying early is beneficial.

Other schools have mid October and early November deadlines for priority consideration, early action or early decision. Applying in an early admissions round can improve your chances of acceptance.

Timing and application strategy matter!

I was so excited today to receive this note from a student that I worked with. She applied to seven colleges. We worked together on her essays and scholarship applications.

“I’m super happy to have received about $315,000 in scholarships from all the schools I’ve applied to. Thank you so much for your help with everything.”

Congratulations! Hard work pays off!🎉💵

Finishing those college essays? Here is something to think about. When it comes to college admissions, there is no unique essay topic.

Whether it is a sports analogy about life, a mission trip to a third-world country, a family struggle where you were empathic and wise beyond your years, a horrible summer job that provided insights about how you can make a difference, or a beloved grandparent who taught you valuable llessons, admissions officers have read them all.

Does that mean the essay doesn’t matter? No!

While the topic is not original, you are. Tell your story. Be descriptive. Write a narrative from your unique perspective. Show don’t tell. Let them get to know you. Start and end strong. Don’t be clique. Write, revise and revise again!
