What an absolutely incredible Longview Connections morning yesterday at Bubba’s 33 in Longview!

The room was packed with smiling faces, handshakes, laughter, networking, relationship building, and powerful conversations from start to finish. THIS is what Community Over Competition looks like in action.

Huge thank you to our amazing Southwestern Electric Power Company - SWEPCO speakers and sponsors for bringing tremendous value, insight, and energy to the room. The engagement yesterday was off the charts and the connections being made throughout the morning were exactly why Longview Connections continues to grow and thrive.

We are bringing you two professionals who live and breathe energy efficiency, and if you have ever wondered how to save money, operate smarter, or better understand energy programs available right here in East Texas, this is the conversation you want to be in.

Kawona Abmas is a Principal Energy Efficiency and Consumer Program Coordinator at SWEPCO, bringing more than 28 years of experience in the utility industry. In this role, she is responsible for the administration and implementation of residential energy efficiency programs across SWEPCO’s Texas service territory. Kawona holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys traveling and cherishing time spent with her two granddaughters.

Nickolas Mayfield is a Consumer Programs Coordinator for Texas commercial programs at Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO). Originally from Tyler, Texas, he currently resides in Elysian Fields, Texas with his wife and two children. Nickolas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations from The University of Texas at Tyler. He joined SWEPCO in November 2024 as a Consumer Programs Marketing Coordinator, where he supported outreach and engagement efforts across energy efficiency programs. In January 2026, he transitioned into his current role, where he focuses on the planning, coordination, and performance of commercial energy efficiency initiatives across SWEPCO’s Texas service territory.

Per our very own Sylvia Cardenas, a valued member of Longview Connections, “these two are the knowers of all things energy efficient,” and this is your opportunity to hear directly from them.

Just wrapped up another Longview Connections 5th Thursday Evening Social… and this one was an absolute banger.

We took over Rowdy Creek Ranch and they did not disappoint. Those wine slushies were flowing and flat out on point all night long. Huge thank you to Leigh Ann Secord, Jaime Steele and the entire Rowdy Creek crew for hosting us so well.

Scotties-Bistro came in strong with a taco bar that had people going back for seconds… and thirds. No shame in that game.

Then you layer in live music by Blake Doyle Music, great conversations, and a room full of people who actually want to connect, and you get something special.

But this wasn’t just a social.

Krupal Patel stepped it up and brought in a full business expo, showcasing some of our Longview Connections members and their businesses. Tables were set, conversations were happening, and real connections were being made.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Rowdy Creek dropped FIVE gift bags and five attendees walked away with something extra.

That’s what happens when you bring the right people together in the right environment.
