šŸ© Happy National Donut Day! šŸ©

Did you know National Donut Day began in 1938 to honor the "Donut Lassies" of the Salvation Army, who served donuts and provided comfort to soldiers during World War I?

Today, our team is celebrating their service—and, of course, enjoying a sweet treat (or two) along the way! šŸ˜‹

It’s World Bicycle Day! ⚔🚲

Fun fact: A full e-bike charge usually costs just a few cents, while providing miles of electric-assisted riding. Many e-bikes can travel about 20–60 miles on a single charge, depending on terrain, rider weight, and assist level.

It was a privilege to spend time with these young men during Ebenezer Boys Camp at Camp Illiana in Washington. Our linemen, Dwain Jolliff and Tyler Bostock, stopped by to speak about powerline safety, share real-world experiences, and emphasize the importance of working safely around electricity.

The campers asked many thoughtful questions, creating a fun and engaging learning environment for everyone involved. We appreciate the opportunity to invest in the next generation and help educate young people about electrical and powerline safety. šŸ’”

A huge thank you to our Daviess–Martin County REMC members who support Operation Round Up by rounding up their electric bills each month. Your generosity made it possible for Washington High School Post Prom to receive a $500 grant to help cover the costs of hosting the 2026 Post Prom, a safe and fun experience for teens after prom.

Before closing out the school year, Daviess-Martin County REMC linemen Jeremy Maddox and Jarrett Arvin spent time with a group of second graders at Barr-Reeve Schools, sharing important lessons about electrical safety! āš”ļø

Students learned why it’s so important to stay aware of what’s above and below them—especially when playing outside. Jeremy and Jarrett also demonstrated how to safely exit a vehicle if it ever comes into contact with downed power lines.

Additionally, our crew shared a few important safety tips, including:

šŸ”¹ Never touch a fallen power line—even if it looks ā€œoff.ā€
šŸ”¹ Keep kites far away from power lines.
šŸ”¹ Stay away from green utility boxes and other electrical equipment you may see in yards or parks.
šŸ”¹ Never climb trees located near power lines.

A huge thank you to Barr-Reeve for having us back and allowing us to spend time with your students again!
