Want to keep an eye on the competition without adding another expensive marketing tool to your budget? 👀

According to a recent Buffer article, several competitor analysis tools offer free or relatively low-cost options:

🔎 Ahrefs - Useful for finding SEO gaps, including keywords and backlinks your competitors have that you don't.

📊 Social Status - A budget-friendly option for comparing social media metrics, such as likes, comments, shares, and follower growth.

🎯 SparkToro - Helps you learn more about where your competitors' audiences spend their time, including the podcasts, newsletters, websites, and social accounts they follow.

▶️ vidIQ - Designed for YouTube, with tools for tracking competitor channels, identifying top-performing videos, and finding keyword ideas.

📈 Semrush - Offers a free plan with tools for exploring competitors' search visibility, keyword gaps, and more.

And here's an important reminder from Buffer: you don't necessarily need a fancy tool to do competitor research. Sometimes, identifying a few key competitors, looking for gaps in their strategy, and paying attention to what your own audience needs can tell you plenty.

The goal isn't to spend all day watching what everyone else is doing — it’s to find useful insights you can actually put to work in your own marketing.
